Great buy sir, and a very useful source of info for us, we bought a '97 Xedos 9 for my eldest last weekend...

It'll be my first chance to give it a proper once over this weekend, but so far seems a very nicely put together car.

Can I ask which of the Xedos forums you would recommend?

The "Mazda Xedos Owners Club" on FB is probably the most active place left. The Xedos Community forums are a great source of info as well, they are pretty much dead now though and mostly German.

Was going to suggest @Schaefftas a better source of info but I see he's already on it

Any pics of the Xedos 9 ?

Where the Subframe mounts to the body I should imagine?

yeah im guessing stands will go there but sometimes it's difficult to get jack and stands at same time on strong looking bits of the subframe but will see how it looks

I used the scissor on mine, then axle stands under the rails like the red points in this image.underview.jpg.4e986d8431b563e4bfc2654f5cc31d06.jpg

I'm a bit dubious about defaulting to the trolley jack these days as I've fucked up a few times because I'm a twat.  I'm rarely in a rush so use the scissor.  Do the same on the 406, but that's actually too low at the front for the trolley to fit anyway.

I've only a few on my phone, the interior's nice as well but I haven't got any of that...

The quietest engine I have ever known, from across the street you can't tell it's on...

It's a great looking thing going down the road, and so low slung... easily as low as the RX8.  A few rusty bits to get on to, but no holes!

It really is shocking how quiet the engine is. Guess that's what you get when your aim was to build the best V6 that existed at the time.

We saw it on Marketplace, in Kirkcaldy.  Nice lady selling on her Dad's behalf, as he was stopping driving at 91!

I did several half arsed ATF changes i.e. extracted it from the dipstick tube.  I figured introducing some new AFT was better than nothing.

I can come over at some point if you like and we can run it down the A2.  Should be able to tell if it's locking up by comparing it to mine.  The memory of what mine was like is still in my head I think!

out of interest what ATF did you use?

I used Gulf Multi Vehicle, Mazda M-III spec stuff.

ah cool I couldn't see any M-III stuff from a quick search so will try that.  The Dexron stuff seemed a bit of a minefield

Can you remember where you got it from

eBay but can't see any on there at the moment.  I think I also considered Mobil but that was £££

Auto trans definitely not 100 percent happy but I think the flash code diagnosis of the speed sensor could be right as the revs do seem to do slightly erratic things and the cruise control doesn't work when the error light is on

Already been to see the race car too. had a quick chat with the owner, Sadly someone speared the rear quarter on Friday test day but an evening with a hammer and wood seems to have helped

Really great day.  Xedos got a fair bit of attention and I managed to have a couple of good chats with Patrick, he even mentioned me in his on stage interview as I'd told him I bought the car just for this event and as he and the 93 race car was going to be there. He seemed to like the Xedos too and said he had one in the same colour when he was racing for Mazda in the BTCC

I also had a couple of long chats with his Daughter Aimee who is also a pretty handy race driver in Porsche Caymans and some historics too

By christ I was confused till I read the text. Having never seen @wesacosa my first thoughts were

"why is he hanging out the sunroof?"

"Why do folk want his autograph for hanging out the sunroof?"

🤣

Had a look and found you. The woman in the small green shorts isn't it? 😁

These look class. What do they drive like?

It is nice to see the Craigellachie bridge as well, it has been too long since I've visited my homeland of Strathspey and the wider area.

Smooth, stable, unbelievably quiet, and in this one anyway, totally climatically controlled!

The handling's great too, as the car is just so low down.  I'm kind of shocked by the old Xedos to be honest...

And yes, the Craig bridge is still a popular spot for all the local car lads to take photos, there's even new coloured up-lights on it, very nice of an evening!
