Arrived home safely. A frame was ace and Jules enjoyed the experience.

A vastly enormous thank you to ALL concerned. It’s been a long but bloody brilliant day.
Thank you all.

Had a weird dream last night about an epic collection thread. Woke up in a sweat. Realised it was only a dream.

Until I looked outside.

Eeeeeeeek 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😍

Guess I may as well use the thread to highlight progress 😊

As is my habit, I clean a section of paintwork to get an idea of what can be done. The rear O/S quarter panel, like the rest of the car was quite oxidised and shabby. 10 mins with a microfibre cloth and a smear of heavy duty compound saw it looking quite pleasing.

I took photos of the majority of panels and overall, the body is pretty sound. A few rust blend, some dings and do on, but hell, what do you expect.

The tailgate is just surface rust.  The root door bottoms have suffered. I may just tidy them up until I can maybe find better examples.
I will empty the car of stuff over the next few days and will report back.

A list of wants and jobs is already starting to form:

Drivers door outer weather strip

Rear hub nuts - sorted

Brake cylinders for the rear

Matching tyres lol

Clean the oil cooler

Cut and polish the paintwork

Clean the interior

Window winder mechanisms for both sides

Rare as unicorn poo steering column shroud

That will do for now 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Looks just right. Old cars should look old. Proper honest old thing.

If memory serves there is what appears to be a steering column shroud among the random bits of plastic trim, which I think I left in the rear passenger side footwell.  I'm not sure if it's the right one for the car though as I could never get it to fit over the mass of wiring under the steering column - although that might just have been me being thick.

I did see that! Will look more closely later 😊

The shabby but cared for look is a good one to aim for.

I do like a clean badge.

The bumpers are very tired looking and likely beyond the influence of boiled linseed oil or smooth peanut butter. I have several cans of black truck bed liner, which is overpaintable. Hmmm, then maybe a  couple of coats of mid-grey might finish it off nicely.
