I was wondering what they would be from, TVR generally reuse lamps from other cars, no?

Then I spot that they are probably Defender tail lights under a £5 piece of black perspex, and I like that.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say I think SMs are bloody ugly.

The strange square tail lights fitted to the Allegro 3 (the roundiest car this side of an Outspan Mini).

I quite liked them at the time, but now I wonder what they were thinking.

Of all the problems the Allegro had, I don't think the tail lights were the issue.

Incidentally I'd be interested to see what kind of caravan they were planning to tow with that?

One I hate

When I commuted into London, if I came up behind one, it would fill me with irrational anger. I either had to overtake, or drop back and let it get out of site.

My anger is raised even by seeing this photo of the runway lights.I'd like to smash everyone with a baseball bat.

Others, such as used on Triumphs don't bother me though.

I can remember thinking how lazy the designers had been and that maybe they were due for an early finish that day.

It all went downhill with the facelift:

Not a bad design, but they cheapened it by using the existing rear quarter panel with a crappy blanking piece added to cover the gap where the previous lights went.

I do like a Sierra rear lamp, just such a nice clean crisp shape, makes little difference whether early hatch or later sapphire to my eyes......

Even like them when fitted to a Notasierra!

Ford Escort Mk3 RGA Design Body Styling Accessories Mid 1980s UK Market Brochure | eBay

Hard to find a photo, but who doesn't love a tail-blazer?  Seem to remember all manner of stuff like the above being screwed to hatchback boot-lids in the eighties and nineties.

The RGA one appears to have been inspired by the various Capri bodykits that did the rounds back then.

+1 on Hillman Avenger.

One of these passed me a few years ago on the motorway and was genuinely scared:

The dent in my forehead is from an interface with one of those.  Long story...
