Welcome Simon. Your Punto looks like a real honey!

Great cars these and so thin on the ground now. I liked the 90elx that my parents had from new in 1995.

Fabulous! Such a period colour. Are the number plates original or repros?

Absolutely love this car. The nostalgia this brings back from the 90s is unreal. What a beauty

Always loved the colours you could get the top end Puntos in, they did a beautiful sky blue metallic as well IIRC. Mine was a base model in black but it was still a good car, best looking supermini ever IMO.

Wow that’s cool. I remember these when they were cheap runabouts when no one wanted them. A friend had a GT turbo in blue, that i replaced the turbo on it for him. Well done for keeping this one alive!

That's the cleanest one I've seen since Sonya's!

Joking aside, it's a stunner. Is the colour rare? I don't remember seeing it back in the day?

My parents rented a similar age Brava when we visited Jersey back in the 90s and my father was really impressed with it. Bravas seemed to vanish overnight, whereas Puntos hung around for longer although now also seem very thin on the ground.

Excellent work!

Nice! I remember that shape being utterly everywhere at one time. Now I couldn't say when I last saw any gen punto.

Hope the electrics don't give you much hassle

Welcome aboard! I must say that’s one mighty fine looking Punto! Been years since I’ve seen one in that condition! Fantastic colour as well! ☺️

They are reproductions I had made of the original plates which I still have- they were just looking a bit tatty and were letting the car down, but these are 100% identical.

Thanks for all the kind comments.

Up until 2 years ago I worked as the Fiat/ Abarth specialist at my local Fiat dealer for 11 years, so most of the parts to rebuild it have been genuine Fiat, surprisingly hard to find, even with access to Fiat parts systems.

it spent a bit of time in the showroom too.

exploit yellow was the colour that Fiat did most of the early advertising with. My mum bought an exploit yellow 55sx (one up from base with black bumpers) in 1995 so I had to have one in this colour.

it also has a lot of very hard to find new old stock accessories, probably worth more than the car as a whole 🙈

headlamp protectors, mats, mud flap kit, boot liner, Philips 6 disc CD changer

I still have the original 14”steel wheels with correct brand new ELX trims, but you could spec Punto GT/ Sporting wheels as a cost option so I’m happy to run them.

its won a prize at the Scottish Italian car day last two years in a row- most people seem to be more impressed in a near 30 year old Punto than all the exotic Ferraris/ lamborghinis’s etc

If I saw that parked next to a Ferrari I know what one I'd be all over like a bad suit, that is simply stunning! ❤️

You really don't see many of these about the place these days. Great little cars.

Brilliant cars. I shared a 60s with our kid for a bit. Ruined it mind with alloys off a bravo and a powerflow exhaust but it still drove beautifully. Just ate bottom arms. Uncle made a fortune buying hgf fire engined puntos doing the necessary and selling them on. Just good cars, Fiat doing what they do best. Small cars that don't feel small with real zest to them. Stunning example as well. Kudos 👏

Genuinely think this is the cleanest Mk1 Punto I've ever seen. Absolute all credit to you!

My parents’ cars when quite new, the 90 was chosen because power steering was standard, I think optional on the 75 but there wasn’t much in it and the larger engine was considered worth having. (by my mother anyway)

I must say I’m very jealous! You’d freak out if you saw the state of my daily car 😂

My 85sx had power steering, but this one doesn’t. To be honest, the steering isn’t much heavier than my everyday car- a Volvo xc40 that has fat 19” wheels on it. One of the advantages of having small wheels I suppose, and it rides much much softer than the xc40 too.

My car is a weird spec, being an ELX it’s top of the range (except GT) so has a tilt slide electric sunroof, one touch electric windows, remote central locking, rear headrests, a drivers airbag, front fog lights, lumbar support, 6 speaker stereo but no power steering.

I miss the 90's

Me too, even though I was born in 1985 😂

I only decided to take the car out tonight because my missus insists on watching that love island shit, so figure I’d have a spare hour or so.

none of that back in the 90’s
