My dad used to wear Mandate, and I just have a feeling it’s smell like that.

The baton has now been passed from the UK half of the team to the American half. We are penniless bodgers with a misplaced faith in the mighty longship, they’re buying expensive suspension upgrades and managing the roll cage install. We are SO tight for time. And money. And skills.

It'll be right on the night. Best of luck pal, it'll be worth putting yourself throught this shit for the end result.

Just interested to know. What happens to the 600 after the race is all sewn up? Will be be shipped back to blighty and sold on or something?

It’ll stay in the states, probably at a mates house in Chicago where we may do some races in the MidWest in the future.

ps - ship docks in NYC today!

This must be the ONLY Rover 600 in the US...

Surely?

I thought so, there was a rumour of one in the MidWest somewhere, who knows? It’s so cool being that out of place.

A proper Englishman in New York.

English man with a Japanese accent in New York. It's quite the global traveller!

Does Richard Truett (AROnline's US-based Rover botherer) know about this? Sounds like it'd be right up his street.

Not yet, it's in [screws up face for best Tony Soprano impression]noo joysey. They can get upset if you call it new york. Looks handy for Jersey Gardens mall, that's where I went when there doing ship shizz.

Car is now in a tent in the woods of New Hampshire behind the house of a doctor who is also one of our drivers. I am not making this up. Interior is just about all out and a man called Doug is going to stick a lemons-compliant cage in it. It’s also road legal in America now thanks to some administrative chicanery by a Brit mate in Chicago. Apparently they didn’t have Rover in their DVLA ‘puter over there so it’s registered as a Range Rover 620. And we intend to drive around America in it next month. Then race the bastard thing to death. WIP pic;

All of them rappers talk about Rovers, presumably it's Yank shorthand for Range Rovers rather than the 214i being a status symbol in the 'hood, so on that basis I reckon you're all good.

I like to think of some gangsta in a CityRover.

An IoE win would be amazing. I’ve sort of got a personal goal of one lap. It is so much work to get the thing to the race, and pass inspection, that just one lap would feel like a glorious win. I’m gently reminding the lads that this race is not a race, unlike the MX5 which we thrashed mercilessly last year, this heap needs to be nursed lap after lap, hare and tortoise style.

Can’t post video here, but I have a glorious clip of our shite Rover driving around New Hampshire on UK plates. Rock and fucking roll!

The name is a problem, they might as well call it jobbyvision.

Lemons has a rule that if you get some famous motorsport person to endorse lemons then you get to ignore black flags, or something. Here’s F1 antihero Brian Henton, today, signing my team’s Lemons sticker. He’s a fantastic guy, I was so pleased to meet him.
