Taken some pics for Autoshite in march 2007 of a Daimler/Rover/Mini in a rural yard. Passing by today popped in to "redo" the pics and was allowed into the bottom field this time.

What a find. Seriously amazing stuff, any idea how long its been there? God knows how that survived the high scrap price.

Posted

White Rover has been there since 1989 (d.v.l.a check on tax date).

What amazing finds. It does shock me some of the stuff that is just left to rot.

I love photos like these, I bet that Mini estate is still worth a few quid as well as the Series 1 LR's, Great stuff, Thanks Rootes!

makes me think... after about the 7th car surely he must have said to himself.." i really must sell some of these instead of leaving them to rot"or was it a car boot sale and everyone was abducted by aliens?:D:D:D

There's something about big Rovers that makes people hoard them, you always tend to see mulitple examples rusting away somewhere, but very rarely one on it's own.Sodding waste though, there were some lovely old motors there at some point, now it's just a pile of scrap. Makes nice photos though I suppose.Ps - anyone else have a bit of a horn for a Daimler Majestic Major? I sure do!

What a splendid stash! Well done for going along and being allowed to take more photos.

That P5b can come and rest in my back garden 8)

Great pictures! Is that the old Rover motor, I see lurking in the shed doorway, beside the Rover in the 1st pic?Besides, what really gets me, is how the S1 Landy has obviously had recent-ish wheels and tyres. I'd have that...

Yeah you're right actually. Thinking about it, in Rust in peace in Practical classics there are often several P5s grouped together. I wonder why?

So I went back here today to get the contact details for people wanting parts / the series one Land Rover. Got pic's of the "missed" Land Rover in the drive.

£200 if anyone really wants it.

Holy crap! That place is amazing, great pics. The S1 Landy is quite a rare one, originally it would have been a military 4x2 (the FUV plate is a giveaway) but has obviously had a 4x4 axle and transfer box fitted. And going by the DVLA thingy it has the best engine evah, the TWO AND A QUARTER DIESEL 8) I hope someone here buys it, the 2a on the drive looks OK as well, shame about the Series 3 bulkhead though.

Posted

I hope someone here buys it,

The interest in that and parts were through retro-rides and flickr so sadly not.

Could you pass me on the details Rootes? It's probably been snapped up by the sounds of it but my friends and I are getting quite a few cool old Series ones as dailies/potential dailies between us now.
