Good call there, seconded :)

Possibly Volvo 850 T5-R saloon, or Carlton GSI I reckon...

Hunt is a rubbish "icon" for shiters. Inspector Frost is a much better policeman... Sierra 1.6L, Volvo 240 Estate, Astra Estate. STYLE.

Didn't he also pilot a Rover 414 in a couple of episodes? (possibly after the sierra was written off)

Impreza is a very good shout, I wasnt around when the UR Quattro came out so dont know what following it had, but it does seem to fit. However, I dont remember ever seeing any as police cars, where-as there are/were Imprezas. There doesnt seem to be much correlation between a Quattro and a Cortina though, so maybe another one odd choice could follow. MG Maestro Turbo? Saab 9000 Carlsson 2.3?

Definitely.. last one tonight, wonder what he's driving.I think A2A is crap anyway.

Gene Hunt would drive the same type of car he does in LOM and A2A... the same car that someone would buy with the proceeds from a bit of extortion, or a small armed robbery on an off-licence.It'd need to be something practical, since he'd want to use it every day almost always 3- or 4-up, yet it'd be powerful enough for those dramatic slidey chases that you can't help thinking last longer than if he drove properly, and he'd probabably catch the crims after a couple of corners.Hence, 2WD Saff Cossie. In Moonstone Blue. And nobody would give a chuff that Spender drove one, nobody remembers the past any more :)

I reckon it'd be an Escort Cosworth personally, the Sierra was getting a bit old hat by then. Was it Hull Police that had one, and it got nicked? lolz!

How about a Thema 8.32?

i did think that, a great call and the best so far

There is only one car that he would drive, It would have to be a 4 door and RWD as i think the Audi isn't really much good for picking up the scum, so I give you...

Yeah, this thread is about as 'autoshite' as the ones about iPads we've been seeing recently.

Hmm, seems like Ive missed alot of episodes considering he had the Sierra last time I saw it. It would have to be a Senator for the 90s show.

Bloody hell, Bitter was still cranking those out in '97? Mind-boggling.It's got to be a Lotus Carlton for Hunt. A 24v Scorp' or Senator just wouldn't be unusual enough.

I would set the 90s series in 91 - have Hunt drive an Escort cosworth ( launched in the uk in 93 if i can recall) and stick a G plate on it for added unauthenticity - would perfectly round off the series which car wise has infuriated the hell out of me.

I quite like the idea of him driving a Rover 800 Vitesse too, and the 4 door M3 is a nice idea.

Being a fan of Japanese stuff, I'm inclined to go for something totally ridiculous such as

Theres no way it`d be Japanese or French, I dont think his budget would stretch to a Lotus Carlton, so I`d go for a Carlton GSi, Senny, an XJR-6 or maybe even a Probe..

The MG Maestro turbo or teego was still regarded as good, but too OAP even then...

Standard 10

:lol: Would love to see that.

In reality:

And probably driving around in an unmarked one of these for work:

But being as inaccurate with cars as TV people usually are, he'll probably be driving in an 00' M3 or something equally unrealistic.

Having just acquired a Scorpio Cosworth, I reckon one would suit him perfectly. Auto, so he doesn't have to flex his snakeskin boots too much, and a switchable TC button for on screen smoke. And a big glovebox for his shooter.

I reckon the sirrea cossie fits the bill perfectly but if he was sticking with an Audi then maybe.....

Audi RS2 Avant

Iconic cars of the 90's??? probably more realistic........

Peugeot 405 Mi16

Posted Image

Renault Laguna 3.0 V6 24v

the latter coming out on the facelift model around 97/98 so they could stick it as a 95' M maybe for that authentic inaccuracy.

Surely this question has been answered now as we know he'd be in a Merc 190....

Welcome to Autoshite by the way

thankyou very much, I've enjoyed reading through some of the threads so though I'd join up for a bit of banter.
