whiskeyonesix Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 G'day, Haven't posted much here on account of being a 'orrible lurking b*st*rd, but here's a few spots from around the area, I'm going to include a few museum and classic car show finds as well. First up is a Falcon (maybe Fairlane/Fairmont not sure) that a guy at work is restoring, the Bosses Proton Persona runabout (rebadged Mitsubishi lancer?) and my hardy perennial 360 (possibly rarer than the other two) LR 101 spotted on way to work the other week, not sure if it's ex-UK MoD Ambulance or Aussie Mob. I know those rear doors weren't fitted to the UK Ambulances..... Leyland Force 7, one of ten left. In the world. Ford Falcon XB Mad Max replica. I actually think there's more replicas out there now than original cars. Silly really as original cars go for absolutely stupid money. Here's something a bit more in keeping with the spirit of things here! Lovely Leyland P76 A couple of museum spots here Erratic Fiat driven by elderly driver Teh Cossie. Probably show all the Local V8 HSV Commodores a thing or two! I didn't think these were sold out here.... My old neighbours Transit. Sold now, although no idea what for - probably not much.... I've no idea what this is doing over here! A regular at all the local classic car show. Viva-tastic! Rover 416i Badge-Engineered Integra I think...... And Finally a couple from back home.... My old ex-Signals 3/4 Landy rebuilt by myself in 2000, sold in 2002 for the deposit on my Flat. Range-Rover money pit. sold for spares just before I came out here. Had sat on the driveway for three years previously - I was going to do it up one day honestly..... Rover 214i. Lovely lovely car, sold in 2006 - again just before I came out here. LankyTim may recognise the Alloys and Interior! I'll try and add a few more when I can! Tom.
RedSparrow Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Great stuff - thanks!Leyland P76 is my pick of the pops here.
504GL Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Hey whiskeyonesix, I'm a native of Perth!!!!!! I think I may have known that Cossie about 15 or more years ago. Am I right in saying that the museum spots are from Whiteman Park? The York motor museum will be good for some more museum spots if you're interested French and Italian car day shows are good as well. I might have to go back through my photos and post some of my stuff from Italian and French car days Go to a classic car show in the UK and you're likely to see MGB's and Triumph's as far as the eye can see...... go to one in Perth and you'll see a few of these
Hudsonpie Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Excellent pics...would love a Mad Max car even if it was a replica, and how cool is that Leyland Force 7...?
retrogeezer Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Great pics, that Astra looks absolutely lovely. You forget how clean the lines are until you see one in that condition..Badge engineered Integra is very tasty too...

A-grade shite either way. I'll give you a million pounds if you can get a picture of a Torana or a VK Commodore OR a billion pounds if you can spot a VL Walkinshaw or as my brother used to say "VL Walkinshit" Persona looks to be a 4 door version of the late 90's Lancer coupe. I'm sure they ran Mitsubishi engines Don't think Rovers were sold here at that time so it must be an import. Extra points for PMH charity plate on it. Wish they did that sort of thing here rather than the whole knobbish vanity thing.
Mash Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Excellent spots. I love that blue P76, it's a Targa Florio edition isn't it?
r.welfare Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I'll give you a million pounds if you can get a picture of a Torana There you go. Taken near Hyde Park in Perth (near the Hungry Jack's) back at Christmas 2006 And here's an early 360 basking on the early morning streets of Northbridge. I think. Finally, one for 504GL. Snapped outside an IGA in North Fitzroy, Melbourne. Absolutely perfect save for some sun damage to the dashboard and interior. My mate's exceptionally sheddy Corolla "Seca" is parked next to it. Australia - west or east coast - is superb for tat spottage.
brammy777 Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Welcome, and great spots youve got there. I love those Force 7s, funny to think its basically a BL muscle car. Quite nice to look at as well.
Owain-328i Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Excellent spots there!! The red Astra is a long way from home, and seems to have been gone best part of a decade aswell (odd car to export there really as its hardly a tasty GTE is it)The enquiry is complete The vehicle details for D182 RUX are: Date of Liability 01 02 2002 Date of First Registration 12 02 1987 Year of Manufacture 1987 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1297CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Petrol Export Marker Export Vehicle Status Unlicensed Vehicle Colour RED Vehicle Type Approval Vehicle Excise Duty Rate for vehicle 6 Months Rate £68.75 12 Months Rate £125.00
whiskeyonesix Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 Cheers for the comments Folks! Yes, a couple of those pics were taken at Whiteman park Museum and at York Motor Museum - it's a fair drive out there, but worth it for the rather splendid collection of old crud they have :)There used to be a motor museum in Fremantle, gone now sadly. Some of the collection went to York and I think the rest in in storage somewhere.... I'm off to a Classic car show on the 21st, so I'll keep my eyes open for more motoring tripe. I need to do the 360 up before then anyway - not that the motoring luddites round here recognise it as a classic.... The Falcon is an XE I think, was speaking to the owner earlier on. It's a bit of a proect - 351 V8, Holley Carbs and an exhaust note like the belch of a drunken god

My favourites are the French and Italian days.P.S if you ever need any work doing on the Volvo I might be able to reccomend some decent garages in Perth
Mr Lobster Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Great pics. Wonder what the story is with the Astra?
keef Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Tried leaving this an invite for http://www.flickr.com/groups/ad016/ on your Photobucket account, but couldn't find it.

The 360 is definitely in Northbridge *Sad anal Australian 504 owner alert* Looking at the seats in that 504 I'm guessing it's Renno built in Australia. The colour is the same as a colour Renault used on their 12's in Australia as well. I don't really miss Australia, but when I see pictures of Aussie shite or shite taken in Australia I do get a little teary
504GL Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Great pics. Wonder what the story is with the Astra?Seems quite common with ex-pat brits to take cars with them and import laws seem fairly kind in terms of compliance though you do pay a whack of duty and GST on it! There's a slight chance I may find myself back in Australia in the next few years and if that happens I think the wifes shite might get shipped over but the 500 would probably get sold here. Paying ~AU$4000 to bring something we already bloody own and paid VAT on over to Australia seems a bit silly!
r.welfare Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 What's the score with imports having to comply with ADR27? I've heard various bits on UK-spec cars (mirrors, headrests etc) need to be changed. I saw a 1996 diesel Astra, a UK import, for sale on Australian eBay a while ago and did have to wonder why someone would go to the trouble of shipping it halfway around the world...I reckon that Rover 800 may have come the same way (if they weren't sold in NZ), but the Viva was probably an NZ-built model.Of course (rather neatly bringing it full circle if I say so myself) Holden were building the Torana I snapped by the time the HC Viva was in full production swing. It was either a 2850 or 3300 model IIRC. I must say I prefer the facelift model with the rectangular headlights!
whiskeyonesix Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 I've got a feeling the Astra and the Viva may turn up at the Classic Car show in the 21st, if they do, I'll see if I can find a little more info about them. Volvo.... I've used Perth Swedish Auto Centre in the past, good guys and they don't charge the earth either. They had my car in when I first had it, just to check it over - bloody thing used to flood like anything..... I'm going to use The Swedish Car Co. soon though - just to fit an air-con bracket I've got coming over front Sydney soon (haven't found a 360 to break in Perth yet, oddly enough plenty of doors, wings, light etc available yet seemingly made of purest gold going by the silly money the breakers want...) so I figure I may get them to regas the air-con as well... A plus point is that they're just around the corner from work. I'm not sure about importing motors over.... A mate of mine was going to ship his 96' Disco Tdi over from the UK, then realised that it would work out cheaper to buy one here... I think the Rover 800's were sold in NZ....

whiskeyonesix Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 That's possibly the most obscure reason for choosing one garage over another that I've ever heard
504GL Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 That's possibly the most obscure reason for choosing one garage over another that I've ever heard My dad likes his cars maintained perfectly though That said no one has been able to find the random problem with his 900 where it just loses drive usually in warm weather after driving long distances
