Cars in film/TV that still exist

Our Mini was used briefly as Victoria's car in Emmerdale, and featured in a scene where she speeds off after an argument and ends up twatting into the local vicar. It's now devoid of the bonnet stripes. Also had a black roof and Mayfair vinyls (a curious addition to begin with as DVLA seems to think it's a City) and the previous owner somewhat predictably festooned it with chrome. The scene where she is first bought the car as a gift seems to be a different car entirely. Not the best screen cap, sorry!

Love that.  I think the first thing I'd be doing though is reinstating the OE black bits along with grille badge and then getting some pre 2001 style plates made up.

Here's a clearer pap!

Ah, thanks for that!

My wife loves the chrome so it's staying as it is unfortunately, doubly frustrating as we still have the original Austin grille and bumpers. I'm defo going to get some period plates for it when I get chance. Can you still get SERCK plates?

I know what you mean. Those three WERE Last of the Summer wine. Bit like Top Gear, not the same since….

Peter Sallis was in it all the way from beginning to end.  And I think Frank Thornton did a wonderful job as a replacement for Foggy.  I still wish they had kept it going.  At least it’s not another shit so-called “reality” programme or singing competition.

After watching Jimmy Nail's Spender recently, I did a bit of research into the three Sierra Cosworths his character drove (a new one in each of the three series):

- G325 WVW: allegedly stolen from the set and burnt out during filming of series 1, but that was in 1990 and it had a V5 issued in 1994 and was taxed until 1998.

- H674 LAR: supposedly survives (reported in Norfolk in 2006) but no DVLA record so maybe re-registered.

- K95 BRX: untaxed since 2003 but V5 issued in 2005 and also supposedly survives (the car blown up at the end of the final episode was a replica).

A couple of years on and K95 BRX is alive!

I remember seeing a social media post somewhere not long ago with photos of it nearing the end of a full restoration and the owner said he had invited Jimmy Nail to see it when it was done. Hopefully the lack of MOT just means it's in winter storage and will be back on the road next year.

The Red Mini BAP245B used as Jeanie's car in Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) still survives, I believe because it was owned by someone who worked on this & some other shows, appearing in some other programmes.

Unfortunately it was last on the road in 1993 & stored for many years, so it was in a poor state when offered for sale more recently.

The resto was almost there in 2015.

I noticed a few pages back people commenting on the cars used in The Professionals.

It’s a shame the Mark-1 tv website isn’t updated very often now as most of the main cars have been restored. The car page was last updated 15 years ago.

Speaking of Last of the Summer Wine, it appears Entwhistle's Toyota Hilux died soon after the programme ended in 2010.

G746 XAY  Toyota Hilux.  Registered 5 January 1990, Tax expired 1 August 2011, Passed it's last MOT at 120,108 miles on 13 October 2011 with no advisories, MOT expired 12 October 2013.  I wonder what happened to it?

Then I wondered if that was the same red Hilux Clarkson destroyed on Top Gear, but it's not.  The reg on the Top Gear Hilux was E473 CJN.  The Top Gear episode aired in 2006, well before Last of the Summer Wine ended.

The irony with Clarkson's Hilux is that had it not been on the programme, it would undoubtedly have been either scrapped or exported by now. His actions have ended up preserving* it way beyond it's normal lifespan.

Speaking of summer wine the brown MK3 cortina GT used in the episode " all that glitters is not Elvis" is here being restored for the same owner.

Thanks, it's good to see it's been restored.

It looks like the Professionals Dolomite POK79R was found some time in the 2000s and was MoT’d in 2007 then not again until 2017, so has spent a lot of time off the road as it only registered 87k at its last test.

3 MoTs on the gov uk website, last test was 2018, now SORN I do hope someone has been enjoying MoT and tax free motoring since 2018
