MK 2 CAVALIER SRI HATCH 1984

Fortunately, as it hasn't got a Ford/VW badge, these are still cheap and well looked after. Bin the horrid wheels, these came with 14" silver teardrop alloys.

1993 Vauxhall Astra GTE Cabriolet

I never knew they still made these on a K plate, Especially a GTE model.

Now that I do like. Seller says the bodywork's knackered, but it doesn't look that bad to me. I'm curious about the engine swap though - Citroën bought Panhard but I don't think they carried on making the 850cc flat twin for very long - I wonder if it's been fitted with a GS flat-four? I sincerely hope it's not got a 2CV engine - I've been a passenger in an Ami6, which I imagine would weigh about the same, and it was not a fast car. :?

^^^ Been posted before. Not surprising that it didn't sell being the total abortion that it is.

I would prefer it standard, why would you do that to a 69 rolls?

Posted

 I really like that rolls.

Yeh, me too...
Its kind of ok-ish, I just hate those 'moon' wheels, or whatever they are called, on any car.

This nice-looking little KE30 is hidden away in the parts section, so there's a vague chance it might go for sensibel money.

XR2 does look very straight, I used to have an 85 C plate one and loved it. The 1.6 CVH suited the car very well, a nice amount of power and a nice motorway cruser too.Sold mine way back in 1995 - I can't believe thats 15 years ago now!

I'd love either a nice Mk2 XR2 or an early XR3 / i when the XR4 goes, got to be Sunburst red though 8)

Posted

Only very few early Mk2 XR2's in Sunburst Red - the majority are Rosso Red or preferably Radiant Red.

Does sound a bit strong but then I'm not sure what it would be worth :?

Cheap tax, insurance and moderately good on fuel, lots of cars of that sort of age have succumbed to CRAPPAGE, so what remains has risen in price due to supply & demand. Wheras you used to reckon on £300 for rammle with an MoT or maybe £900 for something nice, now you can't buy ANYTHING that would be classed as sensible for less than about £600.

Posted

I would agree with that too, it's a side effect of crappage they never thought of.....

Seems strong money to me, reckon on that only being worth £750-ish. They're GR473 on fuel but then something will fall off and you'll call the RAC who just laugh as they take the towing dolly out.
