This was on car and classic at the end of last week for 250 quid, which did seem quite cheap although it has got one hell of a long list of mot failures.

Yeah, that 827 koop flunked its test horribly, and has a crusty arch. Also I'm trying to restrict myself to 820 Vitesse koops, as I still can't get over their unrivalled performance/insurance cost ratio. Plus the T16 lump doesn't pop head gaskets.

I'm still mourning the fuggin gorgeous 45k red one that sold in two days flat (at the full-whack BIN of £1,850, without even a bid at his SP of £1,450). Perhaps I should do the Autoshite thing and go up to Dolgellau for the ropey £650 bluey-green one from a few days back. Or sacrifice the Vitesse option and settle for this auto Sterling 820 - put it on this thread before, and it's now at a nice round £237.22 with under a day to go.

unrivaled performance/insurance cost ratio

I hope that still applies, a few months ago a lot of stuff was reclassified when everything was given a new insurance grouping ranging 1-50 rather than the old 1-20.

I would 1shitzillion % prefer pre-facelift but this looks tidy;

I phoned up my insurers (Elephant - part of the notorious HOUSE OF COCK conglomerate) to get a price on replacing my 1.3 Maestro with an 820 Vitesse koop, and was quoted an extra £88 for the 6-month balance on the policy. Would work out annually at £480. Can't bring myself to describe that as the deal of the century, but it's rather better than the £900 they quoted when I rang them for a price on the red 535i Scooters was flogging on here at the end of the summer. (Yes - I have tried and failed to get any sort of quote for any sort of vehicle from the limited-mileage classic-car specialists regularly namechecked on here. If you live in a city and don't have off-street parking they don't want to know. It's one of the great civil-rights injustices of this or any other era.)

That silver Sterling looks very nice, but it's got the full house of 800 leccy woes and has done 138k.

Still on the subject of Rovers, I spotted this one on autotrader. Looks like a bit of a bargain to me if it is as genuine as the advert suggests. 8)

1998 (S) Rover 620 Sli with 49k on the clock. £695. Length of MOT is uncertain + the towbar may pose a few questions.

CIH I meant a 2 door coupe not the 5 door fastback. We all know about those :)

HHH did you win this at £385?

I'd hit this, certainly at £87 with 11m MOT.

But fingers crossed for my snipe on the local 5 door, currently £155, an hour left.

I hit the wall at £350. Might still be in with a shout of the old second-chance offer though as the winner has 4 feedback.

Nice one, KruJoe. 1993=closed deck block. High clutch pedal may be a stretched cable, or someone has been messing with the adjuster screw on the top/back of the clutch pedal. There are numerous ways to sort this, chief among them are to yank the clutch cable back and forth from within the engine bay to reset the self adjuster. Or, give Ashy's solution a bash, worked on my mate's R8:

There may also be a small, spoon-shaped clip on the bulkhead that the cable sits in - make sure it is.

That's great to know, thank you! I'll see how it drives and have a look at that.
