No not the one in Ashes, this one was still trapped in the garage when that was shot. It's a 2L with a twin choke and a 5 speed.

ARSEFLAKESHaving a poke and prod up the front end of the Micra today -Needs a new NS CV boot as the one on it now is split.Need to sort out the front cross member - not sure if it can be plated but there is a thwacking great hole in the fucker (well there wasnt till I started poking with my key) just behind where the number plate is. Knowing my luck it cant and will need a new one (bastard of a job) - in which case some cold welding techniques will be employed....On the plus side found a nice retro period piece in dads garage - a stick on "key hole" and window stickers proclaiming the car has an "Electronic Alarm System!"

Spent a pleasant morningin the sun dragging the Maestro van in its stripped out lightweight state over to Shrewsbury to be cut up and welded when I get the chance. Better facilities over there see...

Progress to be made very soon!

I wonder when im going to have to give the A frame back? Im having too much fun!

Tampered with the Bluebird suspension today (no stick hitting of course), and while dismantling things found out that one of the anti-roll bar brackets has snapped. Oops. I knew that pothole was bad, but not that bad! I'll have to see if it is still a stocked part, and drive carefully until then.

Anyway, I think it looks better a little lower.

See if you can tell...

I think it might die...

Plan is to rip it apart and see just how rotten it actually is (does seem pretty bad so far!)

 That does look pretty bad. Decent parts donor though?

I'm sure it will be fine (from that picture) .. once you have brought a new floor skin. (Would it be a inner sill too ?)Still ... Good Luck , i'm, sure you will find a little more to "fix"

If I was Sir Bollox, I could spend £500 on panels, couple of hundred on a good second-hand chassis and have it back on the road for less than a grand, but my welding skillz0rz are failz0rz, so no can do. Needs floors, sills, repairs to the rear seat box, lower bulkhead, bonnet hinge, windscreen surround and rear light panel if you were being fussy. As you can get everything, there's not really such thing as a 'beyond repair' 2CV. If I had the funds, I'd get it done.

If you have a welder "never say never" ... get a crap PC, steal the cover off it , and practice welding . I did so, and my welds came out "Ok"If you don't have a welder, you are more than welcome to lend mine.I don't know how much wire i have left, so you may have to bosh some in.Good Luck Again :)

When did they discontinue the rectangle lights on 2CVs? 'A' reg must be on the borderline.

Poor little chevaux, killed by a cheapskate PO and mongy welding. On a lighter note I've been out and about and popped into Gaydon today! Good few hours wandering the museum with the missus, watched a 15-min Allegro promotional film and bought the "Making Cars At Longbridge" book from the gift shop. Top day. I am now finishing off the captions for my final feature for my previous employers and looking forward to murdering a bottle of wine with my dinner tonight. Tomorrow brings a Range Rover Classic and a Disco 2 to play with. HPY EASTER SHITERS

Yup. A is the borderline. Charlestons (bar very rare Drum-brake ones) always had chrome lamps though.

Oh dear. That looks even more crusty than mine! But as you say, any 2CV is savable, and they are fetching high prices on Ebay at the moment.Good luck! I was offered one yesterday, a green and white Dolly that has been damaged when the roof of the barn it was stored in caved in. I'm not sure what sort of state it is in, the owner hasn't seen it for a year, but it does have a galvanised chassis....so at the very least it should be a chassis donor for PJN :)

Id quarrantine that 2cv, to prevent cross contamination of rust- especially to the Reno!

S'alright Tim. I've gaffer taped over the sill rot on the Renner, so that's cured. (actually, poking around had developed a couple of holes so I thought they'd better be covered before water fills 'em up.Dicky - where is this 2CV then? Top half of this one's pretty good...

Dicky - where is this 2CV then? Top half of this one's pretty good...

It's about 200 yards from my house, although I've never seen it. It was being turned into a noddy car  when the owner's husband died circa 2003, it's been in the barn since then. It was supposed to be in excellent condition back then. I'm going to arrange to go and see it, and I'll get some photos. I have no idea how much damage, if any, was caused when the roof caved in last year.

GET IN!Deposit just left on new wheels, roll on the end of the week or earlier if I can form an escape committee from work to get to the bank.

Cool. Keep me posted. I'm sure I can find a home for it, even if it isn't me.

Is it a secret until it's collected? Or are you sharing :D

Took the family out for the day in the Laurel today, having checked the coolant I'd put in last week was still up to level after a trip to work in it during the week. It was, nice and clean too, so all appears to be well there (these are susceptible to head gasket failure). I've done pretty much nothing else since its winter lay-up apart from reconnect the battery, but the old thing did a 100-or-so miles trip today quite happily.
