I don't have the 6cd changer as I have an aftermarket android stereo in the car which I'm shortly changing for one of these

I was toying with the idea of a replacement, do they work with all the Mercedes buttons and features?

Rear suspension is still inflated this morning, Covid test positive so I'm rebuilding the compressor today.

Yes they do work with all the buttons, it's simple to configure through the can menu on the head unit.

You need to ensure the one you buy has all the correct leads, I'll be selling mine which is like this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/125332024474?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=hHRdjkDCSL6&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=CVQtOrP6SSG&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=Copy if you are interested :)

@Jazoli Thanks for the offer but the radio will have to wait as the compressor rebuild has turned into a replacement........

The head bolts sheared off due to corrosion, luckily enough thread exposed to screw on a pair of M6 nuts and Tig weld them.  A great dodge as the stud usually gets hot enough to release the corrosion.

A bit more corrosion pushing the seal out

The bore is badly scored, looks like the ring was worn enough for the Wobl piston to touch and wear through the anodizing.

Then the motor and casing slipped out of the vice and broke the piston! Words rhyming with clucking bell uttered.

A friend has ordered me a replacement Arnott compressor that should be here today.

I have a W211 with 16"s on, but i am allowed to as i am an old man!😀

I want to fit 16's with balloon tyres for comfort but I do like the look of the 18's, I will stick a set of 16" winters on if I can find some for reasonable money (for winter ;) )

Must have battery coding requirement somewhere. If there's a thin wire coming from the negative terminal with the normal big earth lead, it has it.   My diagnostic can set it.

There is no coding requirement on a W211.

Thanks Bob, it was just an easy swap out for the new one and clear all codes.

Knowing the brakes will need looking at, I have been investigating what larger disc and caliper combinations can be fitted. Mine has 312mm 4 pot Brembo on the front, not small and work well but the CLS have a 330mm setup that bolts on.

It seems I dragged my heels a bit (and the brakes) as a light grinding noise started Monday. What happened to the wear indicators telling me the brakes were worn out?

I now have new discs and pads fitted, each side has wear indicators at different depths. It would seem they were long gone and reset before I bought the car!  😳

While I was there I adjusted the front wheel bearings and checked the tyre pressures. The drive home was nice as the car felt more precise.  So nice I did 41 miles on a 9 mile drive home from work.

I performed a Post Mortem today on the old rear air springs.

Nothing  definitive, a wonky O ring on the air solenoid I suspect has been like that since manufacture,  the other side was OK. Some perishing visible on the bellows but could be the end seal corrosion or the solenoid valve letting by.

The past two weekends have involved a fair bit of driving, up to Towcester then on to Bournemouth and this weekend Stansted and Duxford. The car didn't miss a beat and impressed one of the passengers that much he is willing to defect from BMW and wants one now.

I did get home from Bournemouth and hear hissing from the front left thinking I had a puncture, thankfully just the air compressor venting the rear suspension as we stepped out of the car. I'm now paranoid about my weight.

National Tyres are doing a voucher for a free puncture repair at the moment if that is any help.

Thanks, I'll give them a look but I remember Readers Digest freebies! 😁

Horrible bastard looking screw, coated it with superglue gel and screwed it back in to get a good seal on the countersink. Holding air until I get the time for a proper repair.

I plugged my iCarsoft CR Max in yesterday to have a look at the injectors and fuel rail pressure then delved into the fault codes showing. All bar one were historic, interior temperature sensor has gone tits up, £57 delivered. Bastid thing even has a fan in it!

Remind me to leave the iCarsoft tucked away in its box....🤣

Haha yeah I've not bothered scanning mine yet as I'm happy being blissfully ignorant.
