Although I do go on the DVLA check from time to time, there are a few of my old cars that I simply refuse to check as I'll be genuinely gutted if they've been scrapped

Said Ebay cockwand, of wobbly wheels bought by Wat: "yes they are very rare and these can be just cleaned and fitted..."

Er, no.  Neg the fucker.

Went to Oil Can Café, hung about for an hour or so, nobody turned up.  So I cut my losses and headed home because it was full of Dads and got stuck in the traffic caused by 2 lanes of the M1 being shut.  I couldn't even help the hitch-hiker at the services because I wasn't going as far as J15, I've never collected a hitch-hiker before and feel it is something I should do one day.

The amount of non shite related crap on the Facebook autoshite page!

Quite. I have people telling me they would rather spunk large amounts of cash on a Porker 911 than a Rear Engined Skoda! Sorry chaps, Skoda wins every time.

The Rover 400 shredded its fanbelt today, leading to my second AA call out in as many months.  The belt was proper perished to be fair, but it didn't really give much warning of its impending death - it hadn't been squealing or anything, and the first I knew of it was an almighty banging from under the bonnet as a piece of belt started flapping about and beating the crap out of various components.  It lasted for about three minutes before letting go completely.  I would have carried on driving, but on the diesel Rovers the water pump is driven off the fanbelt - I couldn't even do what I've done in the past and carried on until the temp gauge started to rise and then switched the engine off and coasted for a bit, as the temp gauge actually started dropping when the belt went, from which I assume that it must get its reading from the radiator rather than the engine.  The AA man didn't have a belt which would fit so he dragged me home on a bar.  Fortunately Wilcos in Norwich had a belt in stock, so as soon as I can be arsed I'll get it fitted.

Not entirely car related, but.....

I quite liked that little theme tune at the end of the 'old' Top Gear, so I looked it up and found the tune was by non other than Elton John, so I look up on youtube for the tune, but I can't get it on my 'mobile device' so I bas up the site on my PC and find I still cannot listen to it because some company called 'UMG' has decided that I cannot listen to it due to the region I live in (the UK)

This is starting to happen to a lot of things I like to listen to, youtube is starting to become a very boring place.

Also, not had much of a weekend, suffice to say I now know why I hate going to nightclubs and socialising.

With the greatest of respect to the person who started it (who I'm sure did so for all the right reasons), having had another look at the FB page today, I'd suggest that it should either be closed down or it's name changed. It's an embarrassment to this forum.

If anyone is arsed then I'll start a new one and have it as invitation only.

Personally, I'm not bothered whether we have one or not - what gets on my tits is the fact that we have an utterly shit one carrying the Autoshite name!

Just a general minor grump about the lack of interesting cars in my life at the moment. Having missed out on using the SD1 all last year because of welding the fugger up then sanding it's it's now on about it's 5th issue since April that stops me getting it in for it's MOT and using it. I even hoovered it out FFS.

I'm a bit worried about this latest stuck in gear issue. I've ordered a new gearbox oil filter (thanks to junkman pointing me in the right direction) so I'm hoping a gearbox flush will get it going again else I'm just going to have to park it up and try to find a new box or maybe go for the engine swap I was considering. Both of those aren't going to be quick fixes and in the mean time I'm bound to buy something to replace it sooner or later especially with the Smart up for sale for decent money. If that happens it'll probably just languish, which is a shame given how much time and effort I've put into it. Plus it's mega KOOL.

Cavette, dont stat a new one as i can do one as an extension to here.

I don't know that it's such a great idea to start going down the 'Popular People's Front of Judea' / 'People's Front of Judea' / 'Judean People's Front' route  with another Farcebook group. I think the existing one is already diluting the traffic on here as people split their time and attention between the two places.

Either block the twats you don't want to have anything to do with (Very easy on FB, I'm up to about six now, with my finger hovering over a seventh) or forget it and support the forum.

As a side issue that maybe Dave can answer, I'm assuming that someone here actually 'owns' the forum and the server it lives in, yes? If that's the case, 'we' have ownership and copyright of whatever gets posted on here, which is certainly NOT the case with anything posted on Farcebook.

Indeed. I mainly rejoined to see if there was a way to stop getting notifications from that group. Despite leaving, my news feed is still full of "someone you know just posted in Autoshite." I posted a "GR-125" about a bangered Rover 100 and promptly left again. The person who posted the pic didn't get it, which highlights the problem. This place IS Autoshite, that'll do for me.
