Unfortunately, the sort of dog owner that doesn't care care whether or not their bloody pet's barking is affecting the lives of other people isn't likely to buy this item.

From VA's post it appeared to be the dog was actually in the same house?? Outside his bedroom door?

Ah right, hadn't read it...

I thought you were annoyed that there was such a thing as an anti-barking collar.

My plan and yours seem much alike, Sterling, and sadly an offer of a job with a 100 mile daily commute is not the solution for me, I reckon I'd be more stressed and probably worse off. I was supposed to be hitting the agencies and whatnot today to get something part time, say 2-3 days a week, just for some flexibility and extra cash and to get me out of the house while I set up a few things to enable moving. Had a brief talk with Mum on the phone, when she gets back from her Dad's we're having a proper talk, something we've not done for a number of years. Stupid thing with the dog is that he's always well behaved when my parents are here, as are the cats, but as soon as it's just me in the house they just go all stupid with the bodily waste and the barking, makes it feel more personal than perhaps it is. Certainly a 'humane anti-bark collar' is not the solution, the nearest thing I can do is put the dog on the phone to my Mum (yes really) to at least settle him down a bit and hope we don't have a repeat performance. For the cats I'm thinking wine corks and sellotape.

Mo - you seem to have been dealt a shit hand at the present time - hope things improve.

Several things going off at the moment. Let me list the ways:

1. FATHA_WATANABE going in for a possible stent because of a previous diagnosis that reckons he's got an ectopic heartbeat.

2. Cannot get the right starter for the 460. GSF and Halfords have both pissed me around - both the motors they've supplied haven't been strong enough to turn the engine over. Andy is getting narky about it being in the way. No comment lest I fill the board with expletives. Not my fucking fault the suppliers are useless I'm afraid.

3. Having until the 19th to get my film finished and none of my portable storage devices are working properly. After having FOUR USB sticks corrupt my rushes to the point of no return (including a brand new Toshiba and a month old Intenso Rainbow Line that operated perfectly last night), wasting about the same amount of time trying to persuade said devices to function, I lost it:

After picking up the shards of PCB and plastic from across the room, I finally got a back up stick to copy the rushes. I feel a lot better now.

The University cameras are so shit they don't even have a focus ring or aperture adjustment. For once a tutor understands this and will be marking accordingly. I borrowed a mate's 600D and filmed with that instead. Uni are making it as hard as possible for us to complete this work. We're supposed to have access to a 1000TB LAN storage area called the MAM. Except that it doesn't work, other than in one room. Furthermore, our course is deemed to be the sick man of the entire school, so we're not allowed access to it even if it did work properly. We have to use portable hard-drives. We complained. We got the classic 'Well, it won't be like this for students next year.' Cheers. That's of fuck-all consequence to us then, eh? Can you really not understand why we think you're a joke? Is it any wonder on the NSS form, I concluded it with 'Were this course a car, I'd have returned it via the showroom window and demanded my money back'?

4. Mum's 13 month old A1 has cracked its second replacement windscreen. Some high quality VAG workmanship there. Audi are not being helpful. Me, I reckon the shell's twisted.

Should really be in the "grins" thread, but since we're hearing about dogs being put on the phone to mothers in here...

Fucking utter clueless messer on swapz (yes, I know....) who offered me quite a tidy pushbike and some cash for a private number I have.

All looked to be going swimmingly, until he started asking a few silly questions.

"What condition is the plate in?" Hmmm.

"Will I be able to use it straight away?" Aahhh.

Then, after I tell him everything he needs to do to assign it, he comes back to me and says, "It's too complicated, and I've been on forums and they say I might never own the plate, and I'd rather buy off a dealer so it will be legal and safe"

Fucking cheeky cunt. Arsing me around, then coming back with a load of tosh, and implying I'm having him over. Although I think I'm more pissed that I thought I'd have a few quid coming in, and now I'll have that plate stuck up my arse forever.

BASTARDS.

There are some pretty good ways to get people back on there, Chris

There myriad knobwarblers on there, but if you assume everybody on there is a complete dickhead, and are prepared to bide your time, then you can get some ace deals.

These were my exact thoughts, Billy. It's the only place that I've had any interest in that plate, so I'll let it run.

In the meantime, I may have to watch out for pushbikes on there, and act accordingly

WTF is all that fuss about the Pope for? He's just a bloke who's been chosen for promotion, yet there's a shit storm of fuss about it all over the world. I got 'promoted' to temporary foreman at ATS once*, they didn't set a few smoke bombs off and have millions of people gathering round some fucking part worn Stomihls to celebrate.

*It only lasted two days, I knocked one of the lads out after work one evening and he grassed me up to the boss.

I don't get it either, although coming from the west of Scotland it'll be a hot tattie up here. I had a corned beef sandwich in his honour. 8)

Hey Wat!! I have never heard of a new starter not being powerful enough to turn the engine over, 2 of them in succession sounds very fishy to me.... like the problem lies elsewhere. Have you tried adding an additional earth cable (i.e. a jump lead from the engine to -ve on the battery) to bypass the engine earth cable?

Snow based grump.

Monday morning, left hand bend into the street at work, always a parked tow-a-van type box trailer right on the corner blocking the n/s of the road so when you enter the street you do so in the middle of the road. Sailed into a parked Honda HR-V on the other side of the road at all of 3.14mph in a Merc fridge motor. Now Edinburgh was a disgrace on Monday, despite some arse covering knob from Traffic Scotland on the radio saying 130 gritters had been working through the night 99.9% of roads between home and the capital hadn't been touched.

Pissed off I've damaged someone elses property and such a shitty little bump has resulted in quite a bit of damage to their car.

Returning from my sisters Caerphilly this afternoon in the Maxi. It hadn't missed a beat on its first long distance voyage since being back on the road. I was on the M5 north near Worcester when there was a thud and water splashed over the windscreen, as a lorry was passing at the time I naively thought it had come from the lorry.

Got off the motorway at Worcester and went on the A449, I noticed the temperature gauge (which had spent much of the journey around 3/4 if the way up the gauge) was climbing towards the top. Anyway decided I ought to pull over which I did, by this time there was steam coming out of the radiator grill. I opened the bonnet to find a big split in the side of the header tank! I personally have never seen this before. Called the AA they came 90 minutes later and checked it over, filled up the radiator, he reckons it is a blown head gasket as he can see flecks of the oil in the coolant, and that has caused a build up of pressure and that pressure has found a weak spot.

My mechanic (who is also an enthusiast) reckons the AA man is probably wrong and it is a blocked radiator so he is going to look over it tomorrow afternoon. Looking at the manual the head gasket looks reasonably straight foward so may risk doing it myself if it comes to it! Hoping it is not though!

Dare I say it but if the AA reckon the head gasket has gone, then it's probably anything but this. Might be that the overheating then made the head gasket fail of course... Hope it's not too much of a ballache to sort out.

The AA always have and always will blame head gaskets, ask one of them the time and he'll tell you it's time to change your head gasket as it's blown.

:D

@ DW thanks hopefully it wont be a problem, the mechanic reckons he has only ever done two E series head gaskets in his working life and says these engines are pretty bombproof. Having kept an eye on the water there has been no sign of any problems up to now!

I was expecting some teething troubles anyway with it being off the road for so long!

My Alfa split the header tank when the head gasket was on the way out, build up of exhaust gases in the coolant .... I'm not saying the maxi's has gone, but it does happen

Autoshite has gone corrupt on my computer, I have missing buttons; submit and preview, and it wont display peoples names. I've cleared history, that didn't do owt, I've done disk clean up and deleted temporary internet files. Deleted cookies. I use Chrome.

It's showing all the moderators names over the top on of one another etc :/

SambaS - try another browser, Firefox or IE, see if the problem is still there.

Thanks whoever you are... IE is even worse, can't get past first page:

Oh my... other websites seem to be randomly effected too :(

Ok, sounds like a plugin may not working properly ... Turn your machine off and on again

Check to see for flash/java updates. I'm not sure what this forum uses though.

In the meantime I'd try firefox.

I'm not sure what's more shocking - that people still use IE or that Autoshite has a homepage

No. Wouldn't part with that one.

It's KEO 5Y. It was on a Golf cab I owned a few years ago. Kept it because I thought it might be worth a few quid. Dealers are advertising it for £1800. I'd be happy with a quarter of that.

Sorry, I'm out.

I'm keeping my eyes open for T4YNE. Found out I can buy a plate that has my surname on it (well 3 instead of an E) for...

Wait for it.

£27k.

No plate is worth that much.

I nearly bought L4NKY for £250, but it sold. Not that I was actually going to buy it. (actually it may have been L14NKY)
