To be fair, it was a shite song and he didn't sing it well live. Hopefully now we don't have to hear it again, as in certain places it's been played to death (I'm looking at YOU Radio 2  ). In fact even the R2 DJ's gave the song a very cool reception, it was a poor choice.

My next big hope is that "we" admit defeat and leave Eurovision altogether.

Did you hear that BBC political correspondent playing it on a shonky keyboard on Friday morning's Ken Bruce show? Pure class! :D

Why do car boot sales start so damn early? 6am on a Sunday! Would trade suffer if the public had to wait until, say, 10am to start pawing through almost complete Marshall Cavendish partworks about stitchcraft and new goods the pound shop rejected on quality grounds?

boot sales start early as dealers like to visit 4 or 5 different ones and still get home for breakfast, and if you get there early enough, you don't to pay entrance fee.

i was parked up and buying stuff at 4:45am this morning, then popped to another boot sale for 6:15, then another for 8am then back home before most of the grockles got out of bed :D

I got up at half nine, so I figured I was already too late for the bigger car boot and went to a pathetically small one nearby. Maybe fifteen cars there. I bought a DVD.

Maybe it's just me, but they don't seem as good as they used to be. Where did all the old electronics go?

most of the collectable electronics, and even old hi-fi, have been sold and now in the hands of people who don't part with them. ebay has cornered the market for 1970/80s electronic games.

One word, Ebay. Most of the decent stuff gets sold there nowadays. Having said that, there are still bargains to be had if you know where to look.

Dagged my arse out of bed this morning to goto one in Batley (guaranteed decent weather for a change so worth the effort).

Got there about 6am, was just about full already.

I hate people who'll haggle over 50pence to the point I go up now when they start haggling "But you said £2.00" - Yes I did and now you've offered me £1.50 it's £3.00...

Also watch out for the wad of cash peasants too, one woman bought a cupboard door for £2.00 then tried knocking me down from £25.00 to £20.00 on a cupboard but I'd seen the bundle of cash she'd already got out so stood my ground telling her I knew she could afford it.

Gave out several fake phone numbers, it's the car boot ffs, if you want it then it's there to buy it not pester me on the phone over stuff.

Rolled home with about £280.00 so not too shabby. :)

Had a stall with my sister last week at a school sale, a nice relaxed one with no pros and a 9am start. We only brought in £50 (for charity) but we didn't have a lot of stuff.

Again though, slim pickings as far as buying. No old stuff at all. Anything electric was unappealing early 2000s vintage.

Spent pissing ages typing out an eBastard advert and was trying to be clever so I could loads more pictures in the description box. Typed it all out, waited for 'normal' pictures to upload and piss arsed about trying to add the others which promptly meant the whole bastarding advert disappeared because I hadn't saved it first

We booted a couple of weekends ago. Made £70 after entrance fee and Burger Tax (i.e. I said I was only getting up at 6am if there was burgers involved).

Most people were very nice, apart from the idiot that wanted to pay me £2 for a TFT monitor.... it was only up for £5! Kept haggling up in 50p increments, my reply to each one was "£5". I nearly took it off the table and put my foot through the screen just to make my annoyance felt.

Saw it later on another table for £15, but he went home with it where I managed to sell it, so I've got money and he's got a potentially faulty (I found it in a damp cupboard) monitor.

Agree on the quality of stuff though, years ago it was a haven of oldschool hifi, satellite receivers, car stereos.... ebay has ripped all that out of it and now it's clothes and books and cuddly toys.

One woman was selling loads of secondhand clothes, including ladies underwear. Second. Hand. Pants. NICE!

Specialist auctions and things like National Vintage Communications Fair still sell quite a bit, you just need to know where to look, haven't been to a booter for awhile now, last one I went to there was some chap selling all his engineering tools off, picked up a box full of mircometers, taps & dies etc for a fiver.

I've been making plans to buy a car, I've had it checked out, made sure I can afford the insurance, looked at train prices and times etc, then I got an unexpected £100 bill through the door so I might have to reconsider.

Pretty annoyed about that, hopefully I can borrow £100 (more) off someone for a couple of months.

Well, you know where I am if you need a loan. I will do all I can to ensure 'Project Buy Another Rubbish Car' goes ahead.
