I went to the new Glasgow Transport museum or Riverside museum as it's now wrong. Now don't get me wrong it's a cracking building and a lovely space but were's all the friggin cars gone? They've got a few of them up on shelves 50ft up on the air and others on ramps and stuff set up in action shots like a stuffed gazelle being chased by a stuffed lion but I'm sure there's loads of cats missing from the old museum. In the old museum you could wander around the old chod, smell it and ogle through the windows but now they're up on shelves you have to use a giant ipad with high res pictures on them to have a look in detail. I get a feeling that like a lot of modern museums they've gone for a little bit of style over content and the cars and stuff are less important than the space and the tricks used to display them.

Oh, and another thing is it not a little ironic to build a transport museum with a tiny car park? Come on! I had to park about 3/4 of a mile away and very nearly burned a calorie.

*It's free though, so it's still worth a visit if you're in the area.

Norm, you really need to start reading a more cheerful brand of sci-fi mate. That posting was almost Orwellian. We don't need it, we're assailed from enough sides as it is. Lighten up fella! Have a week or two of Tom Sharpe or Douglas Adams. You'll be a different man, I promise you.

Oh shit, changed the plugs on the Bluebird and now it runs like a complete pig, really rough and won't idle at all. The plugs are in an awkward place and although tow were hard to get out, the feel secure and I'm fairly certain nothing has stripped.

Hypothetical question, as I'm 99% certain I haven't done this, but what would happen if the HT leads are in the wrong order? Would it still run but really badly or would it simply not start?

Posted

Chances are it would start and run really badly. Try swopping them around, it's the cheap option and might fix it! :D

And next time, only undo one at a time...

Posted

^ wouldn't that require you to swap the inlet and exhaust around, and reprofile the cam? I suppose that would count as "hard enough".

Easy with two strokes though.

Posted

Norm I didn't understand one thing you said in that post so I'll just assume you're on a very heavy dose of class a drugs.

Whatever they are, he certainly doesn't need any more downers. You think he's being paid by European anti-depressant manufacturers?

Suzuki 3 pot? I thought they (GT range bikes) were all strokers. I still say a 4 stroke can't reverse direction without re-engineering.

Rioting in London, now more Riots and looting in Birmingham. Bring out the water cannons!

Hang the DJ?

Fuck watercannon. Mounted troops, stun grenades and live ammunition. Shoot the first dozen dead, and set the land sharks on any who hang about after that.

Did you see that bloke that got nabbed last night by the hairy crocodile? I have never seen anyone look so scared in my born days. I've been looking on the news sites all night for pic, but no luck.

I wish the police would jsut go in a crack some skulls. But doubtless someone will youtube it and the human rights brigade will have a fit.

A scumbag gangster is hot dead after trying to kill a policeman. Said gangster's mates and promising footballers take a break from stabbing eachother to cause some anarchy. Zero sympathy.

Purely coincidental that a fair number of rioters come from a certain ethnic group though.

The rioting is really pissing me off, They have now started in Croydon setting several shops now on fire, It's not exactly a good advert for the olympics next year.

Shoot the lot of them, They will be no loss to society.

They should shoot everybody who complains on the internet first.

Riots in Leeds now, apparently someones been shot there too!

The pics on BBC news 24 are incredible!

There aren't enough bullets.

Riots annoy me too. At least complaining on the internet doesn't harm shop workers, Police or innocent passers-by. This just looks like another excuse to smash stuff up. Just what the economy needs - looming repair bills and the death of a really rather fine Art Deco building in Tottenham.

Fuck it, just shoot everybody. That'll sort it.

Hang on, riots in Leeds? More info required, need to know whether I should TOOL UP for the inevitable Wakefield riots.

Wouldn't you have been shot years ago?

Posted

I can just imagine a beige Galant driving through the centre of Wakefield with all the rioters stepping out of the way just like in that scene from Only fools and horses.

Posted

I agree that the rioters don't deserve much sympathy, but the police aren't exactly squeaky clean or super-competent, either. You can bet that, if they do shoot somebody, it will be a teenage Spanish tourist trying to find the nearest tube station or something like that. Cue further riots, repeat ad infinitum.

Blues & Royals, mounted. Three tons of steel and brass with sabres head on at the rioters.

The 380, 550 and 750 were triples, the 250 and 500 were twins. The 380 had the 'ability' to do 16mpg if hammered against the wind and get 1,500 miles out of a new rear Dunlop if they were ridden like they should be. Such fun and that unique sound they had. LCA 583T where are you now?

99.9% of these scumbags are rioting it for the sake of it, rather than for any political purpose. In Birmingham they are just copying what happened in London and rioting just to loot shops! I think this is what's happening in Leeds, rather than the full on destruction thats happening in the capital. The wife read it on Twitter, so possibly not the best of sources.

I'd imagine none of these plebs are smashing up and burning their own houses/cars. Some poor folk have lost everything they own because of these people.

Its going to take years and millions of £££'s for the areas involved to recover. Where does the money come from? The people who caused it? No, don't be daft!

Yeah, I know... I had a 380 for a while, I was horrified as to how much fuel it used. Small tank too.

My point (even though it's irrelevent) was that they were 2 strokes.

Lankytim - so there is a possibility that the Leeds thing was made up by someone else who remembers old smiths lyrics then?
