At least you can phone!

The setup here is that you HAVE to do it through their website, there is no alternative.  They open for appointments at 0800 - and by 0801 they're gone.  No way to do it by phone or in person, you have to use their (terrible) web system.

As they're also chronically short staffed, there's an 85% chance that your appointment that you've waited 8-12 weeks for will be cancelled a day or two before and you have to go back to the end of the queue and try again.  Or equally likely they just won't call you when there's a phone appointment booked and then send you the angry "you missed your appointment, you're costing us £££££ per year!" letter.  Have been trying to get a referral letter so I can just get things handled through the private medical cover I have through my other half's work since well before COVID arrived.  I've just given up trying now until we move now.  It's not as though I'm trying to get the bottom of something which has a non-zero chance of being honestly sinister or anything important like that...Oh, wait...

I do wonder exactly how anyone who isn't IT literate enough to use the web portal (which really isn't clearly designed at all) who does actually need to regularly see their doctor is meant to manage - though I'm guessing the answer far too often simply that "they don't."

Drove up to Derwent dam yesterday in the 75.  47 miles took nearly 2 hours. M1 down to 3 lanes and 50mph in two places and sat nav took me a tour all round Chesterfield. The reservoir was astonishingly silent, but the journey in both directions was shit. I used to enjoy driving, but I'm seriously thinking of selling everything but the camper and buying an car that will do a million mpg and  thrives in slow moving traffic

Just been up in the loft for Xmas lights.

Now I've put the ladder away and washed my hands "there should be some more"

Because of course there is.

Evri bastards.

"We've attempted delivery"

Yeah of course you have, we've been in all day, and taken several packages from other deliveries.

Apparently this is a 5 ring halogen hob

We've had stuff delivered like that. A note through the door saying "over gate"

Best one was a pc motherboard just randomly lobbed over our 6 foot high gate.

Every year for the last 5 years my wife has said 'there should be another box' as if I'm deliberately hiding it in the loft because I love the aggro!

Smart bulbs are pissing me off.  I buy name brands in pairs, about £20 for 2. Its worth it for me to be able to tell the light to come on because Leukemia makes everything hard.  Every 2 pack has had one duff bulb, the remaining one that works lasts 6 months.  And the wife has crashed the new car. Not the old one, the new one. No hurt  people thank the Lord.

Since we had a few lights with those square fluorescent tubes, I bought a multi pack of 12.

They arrived, and 10 of them were smashed 🤦

At least no-one was hurt in the crash, it's annoying but just a lump of metal when alls said and done.

Hope things improve for you soon 👍

Did car insurance always get more expensive if you buy it on the day or is this a recent thing? It's annoying as I always get a quote if going to view a car but as it's obviously not guaranteed I will buy it I take it out after purchase.

Get the quote online earlier and save it. It's usually guaranteed until it would be too late to take it out today.

Then just buy it when you decide you will take the car.

I've never had a different price when doing this

Go to post office with a card for a friend in Canada.

"All post to Canada is suspended until further notice because of strike action over there."

Why is it whenever I try to be nice to anyone, something has to fuck it over?

The old girl's car has been keyed 😑

And we have finally received the logbook from the DVLA so we can tax it, but it has arrived with the private plate it had with a previous owner so I am technically the owner of a Range Rover Evoque. Fuck sake.

Avoided eastenders by going to wash my hair. Normal until I try to open the door and the fucker won't. Eventually got out by applying max force to handle and lifting door.

Ma, do not close the door fully until I've fixed it. The catch mech is knackered.

Well you bought them!

Yes I did. 20 years ago. Stupid me buying shite that will never last.

Well I don't know why I can't just close the door, worked last time I used it.

Great idea Ma. Going to be huge fun* coming back to find you dead in the bathroom after the weekend. Have a nice time proving me wrong.

i don't often venture into this side of my life and try to hide it

but i am fucking skint

i have £1.20 to my name

i have been trying to find work but at this present moment it is far from easy

i don't know what to do

lassie is coming for a few days at the weekend and i want to treat her but literally i do not know what to do

i'm so sick and tired of life being like this and it has massively been getting me down

i want to work, but either i get interviewed and nothing or not even a response from the applications and i can't stand it

Yes. But it's got more extreme a difference the past few years, to such an extent, it's often worth checking how much temp insurance is to get it home/a few days, then have a policy for it to kick in later, can be a £100 difference on some cars insuring it on the day v 48hrs later.

A pure 'We think you're desperate in a rush so bend over and take it HARD' price.

Quotes are normally valid for 30 days , so always get some as soon as you are within the 30 days before you need it.

My Landlord has decided to sell the house I've been renting for the last 8 years. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to buy it.

He needs to gut and refit the hallways and upstairs before it goes up for sale, so I need to be out by the end of February. (Credit to him I guess for giving me a couple of months).

Anything I can afford is either fucked/in a shit area/miles away from work - or all of the above. Great.

Work booked me on a two day Mental Health First Aid course, which I completed this week. It was pretty brutal, and flagged up/triggered quite a few things that I haven't properly processed over the years.  Brain is full.

Sorry to hear that. I have that fear in my head more and more lately. I've been here 12 years and couldn't live within 20 miles of where I am nowadays when I have to start again.

Good luck

I'm in much the same boat.  If and when I have to move out of here I'll probably end up living in a camper van for a while - whilst I could technically afford to rent a place like this at full market rates it'd mean no cars, no holidays and beans on toast for tea every day, at least until I get my loans paid off.  Or find a better paid job, but that's a tall order around here with my skill* set.
