Yeah I'm afraid we were knocking out L300s for £229 brand new at the end of their sales period.

Sold massive amounts, in fairness repaired massive amounts too. The DC sockets are made of Dairylea.

Wish I'd known. I'd have bought 2

To add insult, the BX needs a thermostat. Halfords price? £16!! Needless to say, purchase not made. I was miffed enough at having to pay £6.50 at a local motor factors for a Landy thermostat.

Make sure you buy an OE thermostat, not Quinton Hazell. I have the scars from swapping the SAAB 9000's thermostat twice.

Women:

I've been off work 3.5 days now and go back tomorrow. When would be the best time to strip our daughter's bedroom, start putting floor tiles down and assemble some shonky fucking wardrobe?

8.00pm tonight, according to The Fuhrer

A guy on RR is selling a decent MIG welder for a very good price, only trouble is he's in the Midlands. Well I didn't log in to check my messages yesterday and found out just now that he was at Stansted Airport today and could have delivered the welder for me  trouble is I didn't see the message until it was too late. Now it looks like someone local is going to snaffle it as well. Bugger :(

What is the point of this and how can it be safe to drive on the road...?

1: Fun/giggles/'cos I can.

2: It probably can't be and I dare say the builder knows it but see 1:

Looks fucking ridiculous but since it's popular in Japan, it's automatically really really cool

Full of the usual "ZOMG you're so negative" when people suggest 7-degrees of camber may be "inadviseable".

I should avoid that site as it just does my head-in.

Well observed! Do you think anyone in the world thinks differently to that? Or can some of us just smile and be amused by it rather than try and rationalise it in any sensible way.

It's just a bit of daft one-upmanship at a car show, like a lot of weird custom hot-rods and such. I doubt very much it drives there.

Suppose you could get a bit angry about it, but it's only about as silly as a monster truck and no one seems to mind them.

......... and just like monster trucks they are liked and enjoyed by children, but seen as silly by adults :D

Shitty BBC shows about Italian detectives in which the Italians speak with Yorkshire accents and only about 30 seconds of it was filmed in Italy.

The British accents were rather stupid but it had a Tipo and (proper) Croma in it, so it's not all bad!

Posted

I think I kinda get the accents thing. It's set in Italy, so they would be speaking Italian, not English with italian accents. So, I think it's supposed to represent Italians, speaking Italian, but as it's for English TV, it's English. Does that make sense? That does beg the question though, why was the lead female played by an Italian, speaking English with an Italian accent? In any case, I thought it was pretty good, and I spotted the Croma too!

I get you, I had thought that when one of the criminals spoke in a generic 'rough Northern' accent (possibly a bit Manc? - the bloke was the fat one who got shot by the bald nutter), to signify he was a wrong 'un.

I forgot to mention the Alfa 155 police cars, surely not used by the Italian rozzers anymore?

I have read the Zen books, and thought the adaptation was pretty good. The only boring bit was the obligatory 'romance'.

Posted

I watched it on the iPlayer - it wasn't half bad. Better than X-Factor or other such dross.

The write up said it was filmed in Italy though?

Posted

I have to admit, it all looked pretty Italian to me! And yes, it's nice to see TV companies investing money in actual drama rather that reality tv shite!

Posted

Just don't get angry about Lord of the Rings. Apparently, it wasn't really filmed in Middle Earth...

Massive grump because frankly, a five year old would be better at mechanicking than me. I've just destroyed yet another cylinder head. Fucksticks. Don't be fooled by my incompetence, 2CVs are actually easy to work on!

Posted

Oh yes, sounds familiar!! Doing your own mechanicing only saves money if you actually know what you're doing!!

Posted

My grump is my job, or more specifically not knowing when it will end. I knew from the start it would only be temporary but it's impossible to plan anything when I don't know if each day will be my last. I desperately want to get back to Plymouth but don't know if I'll have enough cash until this placement finishes. On the other hand they've already gotten rid of 75% of the temps, so I must be doing something right to have made it this far

Oh and the MR2, which ran fine on the way to work but lumpy on the way home. Something to do with the damp maybe?

Is is this additional to what was reported so far in AS24

Yup. I'm all out of cylinder heads! More worrying still, I've got to change the thermostat on the BX - can I avoid more 'SNAP-FAIL?'

Monster Trucks rule STFU etc

Seriously though they rule.

Good luck - if it looks like a stud might shear it might be easier to butcher the 'stat housing with a dremel, that's what I've had to do in the past. I feel your pain brother - I hate snapped studs!

I'm grumpy that a car driver got fined £440 by the police for "wilfully obstructing a policewoman in the execution of her duty" by flashing his lights to oncoming drivers to warn them that there was a rozzer with a speed gun around the corner.

I've done this, I'm sure many of you have done this, so WTF should his poor old boy get fined and have his name and photo dragged through the press for doing it, Pisses me of this kind of thing.

Posted

I used to do this, nowadays I reckon it's your own fault if you get nabbed - pay attention! By not speeding, a copper with a hairdryer doesn't bother me at all.

A headlamp flash for something actually dangerous - like loose sheep in these parts - is a good example of a proper warning.

Posted

People not speeding have nothing to be warned about.

What cheeses me off is all the nobs suddenly doing 20 -25 mph because somebody's flashed/flapped their arms/seen a speed trap. They aren't going to do you for doing 30 you 'tards.

Some guy flashed Matt while he was in a marked car. What a twerp.

Does anyone remember that Montego I posted about a while back? A workmate of the wife mentioned it to her one day after she heard I was interested in old BL tat. Owned by her pensioner next door neighbours its a one owner from new, B or a C reg, saloon, immaculate, but the owners wanted rid and were thinking of scrapping it. The girl who told the wife about it it kept meaning to ask, but didn't get round it it, even though the place is frigging next door. Over two months has elapsed since she first mentioned it. Guess what? Its just been part-exchanged and scrapped.

This has happened to me loads of times in the past so i'm almost used to it. Still boils my piss though. "Didn't know you wanted it, so I scrapped it" is a another annoying one. Funny how all these cars that end up being crushed before they can be saved are mint low mileage one owner examples with zero rust and FSH  .

Raced home from a long hard day at work to watch some darts and my tv has packed up again. I have had it for about 14 months and this is the second time its happened. Last time it took Tescos repair people 8 WEEKS to sort it and get it back to me. It is out of warranty now so I think I am fucked. You would expect a £350 tv to last more than a couple of years wouldn't you?

It's a Toshiba by the way. POS.

I am fucking livid.
