The current government's (and the one before that) pseudo 'green tax', which is just a way of getting more money. There's more cars on the road every year, and nobody uses public transport through choice. How is this green tax fair, in the same way the poll tax (later sneaked in as council tax) was fair? They're both shitty, sly taxes. And why do they feel the need to increase it 'to help low earners'. Isn't the reason for these separate taxes for the namesake? Don't just put the lot in a big pot, you thick c*nts.

Wow the Policeman on Traffic Cops just identified a Renault Modus as a Rover Metro. Because we all remember the latters perfect NCAP score.

 

Also, seeing an Accident on the road a few minutes after it had happened is always awful. A nearly new Mercedes SL55 t-boned a Megane Saloon right next to the M3 today, I think the woman had to be cut out. I reckon the Merc driver was speeding, as they all love to do on that road, changed into the right lane and not noticed the Renault coming out of the road on the left.

I've just seen a Allegro-type Mazda 323 parked up on the street with a spacesaver mounted on the front offside, which is bad enough but it was almost flat and worn down to the steel belts.

Christ knows how long they've been running about in that thing hobbled with the handling abilities of an early Marina on worn, mismatched crossplies.

Going to America - why make it such a hassle? If you wanna go for up to 3 months then it's simple, one step fill in a form online and you're off, if you want to go for any longer then you have to go to the bloody US embassy (in London) and apply for a tourist visa, which means having a load of interviews where they pick through my finances etc and determine if I am allowed to visit I'm lazy at the best of times and was expecting the whole thing to not involve travelling further then my local Trailfinders, but travel agents are no longer allowed to process visa applications because terrorists use travel agents or something. Really not sure what i'm going to do now, go on a short break for the whole winter that I can arrange by tomorrow, or piss about going to London to the embassy and pissing about for hours just so I can see in the new year at Times Square....?

I think you have to pay for ESTAs now, don't you? I had to go to the American embassy years ago ('99) to get a J1 visa when I got a summer job in the US - IIRC it was a pretty straightforward process, but then of course that was pre 9/11 so the US authorities weren't seeing terrorists behind every tree.

I got home from work an hour ago, jump on the computer, log into autoshite, wrote a reply to Alfa in the Stondon thread and my internet crashes.

Great i think, so i turn the broadband all of, reset the box and try and connect it for a while and got feed up so i call BT up and wait 20 mins for a answer.

I eventally get through to an Indian guy who askes if Ipswich is near Central Scotland...

Then he askes if i'm near East Anglia which i said yes, oh, your broadband in your area went down at 4pm with a major problem and it will be another 24-48 hours before your back online again.

Mr.HS, I could do that but it's more the fact I wanted to stay for 4-5 months rather than just see in the new year over there, 3 months feels like no time at all. Also I quit my job so as of thursday i'll have no income to support me for a couple of months if I did stay here, and i'd just be eating into my savings for the trip.

You do have to pay for the ESTA, but it's only about a tenner which is fine. If I go down the visa route it's gonna be a lot more than that to get to London and back. I'm going to look into exactly what documents I need for it and possibly do it next week, I'm just pissed because I was hoping to get it all sorted today online so I could book my flights at the weekend.
