PhilA Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 Depends if it still represents a significant divide still present, as you say. To me that's the difference between continuing down the same path despite the war having been lost and recounting only the good, glory days and retaining only the single minded path you want to travel, versus the acknowledgement that perhaps everybody needs to change before said dream that was had can become a reality. Thankfully a lot of the most millennial generation are no longer directly influenced by the attitudes very prevalent in this country in the early half of the last century (as generations pass on) and things are moving off in their own direction of greater integration. The entitled generation concern me- but that's another thing entirely.
SierraMikeHotel Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 The entitled generation concern me- but that's another thing entirely. Just so that I'm entirely clear that I understand you - that's the baby boomers, right?
PhilA Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 Here, yes. Then it looped again in the eighties and again in the 2000's. Anyhow. I've said more than enough.
Uncle Jimmy Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 Eh? I can't even see how you leapt to that conclusion. I'd rather people just thought about the power their words have rather than send the rozzers around.I'm taking the piss out of you Wobbler.
Rod/b Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 I was gonna get one for my new bathroom, sadly not enough space. They have a useful purpose as you get older believe me Get a bum gun. Literally every toilet has one in this part of the world, and once you’ve had one you’ll never go back. The Moog 1
dollywobbler Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 I'm taking the piss out of you Wobbler. Ah. Er, thanks. It was joyously obvious. I may be a bit touchy today, having accidentally set some nutcases off with a Facebook post. Wasn't expecting it to turn into threats to 'destroy your world' on YouTube. I must be a celebrity, because apparently I'm now not allowed to have opinions, especially if they don't agree with people who demand the right to free speech. They really don't see the irony... Uncle Jimmy Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 Not at all I've never used Facebook so I don't have that to contend with. I doubt they are nutcases or wish to destroy your world though. Bored and fed up like a good proportion of the populace?Come on- what did you post then? Sat here in bed with tonsillitis so I could use a laugh.

chaseracer Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 It was political (well, it didn't start off as political) so probably best not. If it's the one I'm thinking of, your position is entirely reasonable.

They really don't see the irony...I've seen that Ian, clearly they have difficulty separating Hubnut as a business from Ian the individual, these same people undoubtedly do business on a daily business with people who if they followed them on social media would think them to he monumental twats, but such is the world, maybe there should be a dedicated Hubnut FB page.... dollywobbler Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 Fair enough; maybe leave the Facebook alone for a while. Some people use the social media a bit too much Guilty as charged. I really should step away from it a bit. Social media doesn't generate as many views as you might think.
mrbenn Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 People are so ready to take offence nowadays, FB seems quite bad for this. Doesn't help that posts on the 'net are very 2D, things can easily come across/be taken the wrong way. The Reverend Bluejeans, Lord Sterling, The Moog and 3 others 6
captain_cal Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 Fucking Discovery, keep getting an issue in which my throttle pedal doesn't respond, but only when it's been pissing down. Fucking ungrateful fly-by-wire post-1986 newfangled tosh. Anyone got any ideas? Or perhaps a match? Even my pre-1986 90 has lost all it's dash lights and still isn't charging. Electricity is not my friend today.

Doesn't help that posts on the 'net are very 2D, things can easily come across/be taken the wrong way.I avoid facebook and other social media platforms, other than this place. In the real world there are various types you avoid but it takes much longer on line to work out who they are! Even on here, with like minded souls there are problems with fall outs due to mere inflection problems which would not happen in real life. It's really hard work sometimes! It'd almost be interesting to meet this person and explain the associated rules and regulations relating to MOT testing of classics cars. I suspect he'd argue that the sky was green and grass was blue, and you'd just end up wanting to kill yourself after 38 seconds. cort16 1
mrbenn Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 My grump is lying weather forecasts. I was looking forward to snow but all I've got is rain & wind. Agreed. We don't have weather forecasts anymore. What we have is a narrative, as it changes constantly to reflect what is happening now. That is not a forecast. Louise2cv, barefoot and FakeConcern 3
The Reverend Bluejeans Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 Trouble is they'll deny it anyway. Why would they (except morally, of course) make a claim on their insurance when they know he has no proof? anonymous user Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 It's only ever old people who push in front of you, in supermarket queues, or to get on the bus first...I'm not quite old enough to get away with it yet, but soon it will be my turn. myglaren, clayts450 and barefoot 3

barefoot Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 But beware, compressed air is dangerous. A quick aside; seven & a half ton driver I used t work with, Diesel Dave.Left EMA bound for London with a soft front tyre. 'Didn't have time' to pump it up whilst at the airport.Popped in at Leicester Forest services & put 125 psi of ice cold air into a 20 mile red hot tyre.As you can probably imagine, it exploded.Bunch of coppers taking a break thought it was a bomb.Ran round to find Dave bleeding with most of the steel cords embedded in his faceBundled him into their car, protesting loudly, and drove him to hospital.Lorry load of freight and Dave's phone remained at LFE services for a long, long time.See if you can guess how many 'guaranteed next day delivery' parcels were delivered free by UPS that week. tinribs, Pillock, Datsuncog and 1 other 4
