We won. Big time

Should be in the grin thread I suppose!

Get in!  Well done.  Well done to all of you.

Going to have a look at that this evening.

Forcing myself not to look at it for a bit now as I need to concentrate on something else for a couple of hours at least.

Thanks for the pointers though.

Who are the parking company?  If they're a member of the BPA then I'd probably give fighting it a miss and pay it for the quiet life.  If they're not then you'll probably win.

I'm kind of with you, sticking it to the man is great, but putting up with 6 months of their bullshit and threats is still stressful.  Unless its a slam dunk I tend to value a stress free life over £100 (especially as it would seem that technically, if not morally, you were in the wrong)

I got one of those fines off some parking wankers and I found a company through that pepipoo site who guaranteed to 'get rid of' the fine for about £25. Sure enough I paid them £25, filled out the online form and about 8 weeks later got a letter off the aforementioned wankers saying the matter was settled.

Reliable enough for the Police to use (I mean, not the website, but its referencing the same database) so pretty.

Its always been bang up to date when I check my own

Edit: I'm sure there was a question here about askmid a minute ago..

pepipoo helped me get rid a of a parking ticket from overhanging a double yellow by 4". Turned out every ticket issued by the council in Burton at the time was illegal as they charged a fee for credit cards which increased the fine paid to above the statutory amount.

Posted

PePiPoo also assisted me greatly when I was pinged by a speed camera at 36 in a 30. I was absolutely speeding and undeniably guilty of the offence.

However, Sussex Scamera partnership (or whatever they are called) managed to cock up their correspondance with me and the timing of their letters. This, combined with various clauses in law meant that I could not be prosecuted. I only knew this due to information gained from that site.

Some people would (quite reasonably) say that I was caught fair and square and should have been prosecuted. However, if the Scamera partnership cannot follow the correct procedure, that is their problem!

UKPC Apparently.

Yep, technically I was in the wrong, even though it's blatantly obvious that this has been absolutely blatantly deliberately set up to catch people out.  I was just stupid enough not to see through it.

I'll have a look at the advice later on, but I reckon most likely it will just get paid.  The impact on my mental health of it hanging over me is more likely worth far more than the money - it's going to be months before I can put this behind me as it is anyway.  Definitely be reading up anyway though in case another dozen of the bloody fines drop through the door later in the week...

Got some Diazepam from the walk ( hobble )in for my back spasm and am slightly dissapointed to be honest, I at least expected to be a bit smashed but just a slight fuzziness for 10 mins and it's made fuck all difference to by back ! time for another though so see what happens  :-D

Saab MOT on Saturday, advisory for a tyre at 2mm, other front one not far behind so two needed.

Yesterday, out in the Holden, first trip in that, first time out for a week due to snow. Rear tyre blow out, other rear same age and not looking good so two needed for that as well.

Looking online, that is between £500-600 for them then. Bugger.

And now it has started to snow again. Aaargh.

I don't think UKPC are a small outfit. I've seen their signs up all over the place. I suspect they've cross the t's and dotted the i's on this one.

Found some dry and flaky underseal on the Tempra hiding some concerningly crunchy looking metal underneath.

Yes, it's the front floor pan.

Thanks Fiat.

Oh and it's definitely fueling, as the bulb primer full of diesel confirms. Either glow plugs (which look like a dick of a job) or the relay then...

UKPC are nationwide, as are Parking Eye and a good few others.

Here's a free guide, but do take note of the Supreme Court decision in Beavis

I wasn't keen on the Butthead decision so the Beavis one must be a humdinger

Smile at random people, I was having a shitty day a while ago and feeling down and a smile from a random woman whilst stuck in traffic made me feel better about the world.

Kiss everyone you speak to on the forehead at the end of your interaction. And tell them theyre amazing.

I said good morning to a traffic warden this very morning. I think for a moment she thought it was some kind of trick.

I find just talking to people can mean a lot and make a difference to some people.

Headlight bulb blew on my way home...

Horn doesn't work as I found out on the way home

Engine doesn't seem to be running at its greatest

The cable tie snapped on my great exhaust hanger bodge...

Its living up to its reputation! Lots of fairly simple to sort but very niggling problems! One of which will be fixed in the morning

I always try to smile. They're improved Aberystwyth no end. Sadly, the locals know when they're off-duty, and soon resort to parking like utter twats.

Thought tax ran out in May on Mondeo. Bill on the mat today £245. Bastard.

Just DD it, makes it much more palatable at £20 odd a month.

This is Becky, the furry one is Buffy. Becky and her BF (Sam, out of shot) were made homeless before Christmas and have been on the street since then. Rather than doing it through choice as some papers would have you believe, they have basically run out of luck. They are a lovely couple. Sam has his dog (Bella) and the Cat seems to cope ok with life outside too. They were even stuck out in last weeks snow because of a lack of accommodation in hostels.

I made a contribution to their day and bought them a coffee. But Becky said the fact I stopped to chat meant just as much because their biggest fear is nobody will regard them as human anymore, now they are on the street.

Crazy situation. Both worked, both lost their jobs and couldn't keep up with the rent. The landlord evicted them, the council have no properties and because they have no address they can't get any benefits. What a totally fucked system. Surely something can be done?

So even if you have no cash, just take five minutes and chat to these guys. That will mean a lot because it's not only cold, dangerous, and hard on the streets, it's lonely too. And that's a good way to make the world a better place

Is the horn totally dead or does it just make a weak farting noise?

If the former, might just be a fuse, latter, it needs a new* horn

Exhaust hangers are about £1, sort it already

Can't stand paying anything monthly. In terms of finance I live like its 1954, years ago I used to pay by card all the time for this that and the other. I couldn't keep track of it.

I got given some at Xmas for back pain and I expected the same as you but really it was just a waste of £8 or whatever a prescription costs.

It gave a faint pip whwn I gave it some welly, so it's not the fuse. I've been told to have the cowling off and look at the contacts. Failing that things got scary and I worked out a bodge in my head...
