Cigars? Might I recommend "Honey Berry" by Backwoods.

Next time we meet i shall award you with one - for no other reason than having an Amazon AND a Piazza.

Got back home tonight to find that the BX hasn't been stolen and burnt out in a way I could claim off the insurance.

If you fancy coming back past Peebo on Sun \ Mon, gis a shout.

Nice to know I haven't completely blotted my e-copybook; plenty of folk have offered loan cars in the interim.

the windows on the wood burner need cleaning again. I hate that job..

Scrunch up some newspaper, dab it in the ash pan, wipe the black soot off the glass, report back with how easy it came off.

Well chaps that's it now. I've decided to throw towel in. Looks like Vectra and saxo be going over bridge Monday.

Is saxo terminal? I thought you had the parts for the vectra?

Bearing mind scrap is worth fuck all, isn't it better getting vectra finished?

Got most of the parts for Vectra and saxo fine just no third gear. I've had the horrible thought of impending bills this week that cant be paid and the money I borrowed for baleno needs paying. Road tax and insurance ,insurance being the biggy. Nothing I can do but say fuck it now.

I've just come through Solihull where they've finished messing around with a junction.

Messing around seems to mean "make the pavement now jut out into the road", so there's a corner that protrudes into the nearside lane of a dual carriageway - come through with a car on your offside and it's quite easy to do what I just did, clip the kerb and get two burst sidewalls.

Three hours late home because I had to limp the car off the double red lines, park up a side road without knackering the alloys, and call the lease company who sent the AA out. AA man turns up with a jack but can't swap offside front onto nearside rear, so can't use his dolly, because you can't get diagonal wheels off with one jack and an axle stand. So we have to leave the car on jack and stand, take the wheels to Kwik-Fit, deal with the grumpiest Kwik-Fit manager ever because I hadn't written down the DOT code from the tyres still on the car, and then battle back to the car in rush hour.

I've just seen the junction as we went back, the kerb sticks out 18" past the yellow box on the junction! And has plenty of impact marks on it already, it's only been there a week.

Changes around Kings Norton are similar to this, deliberate narrowing of roads before and after roundabouts. As I go through it in morning and evening rush hour were everything is moving slow, it just causes traffic jams and not damage. I have also seen 20 painted on roads that are 30mph roads. Really do not know what the councils are doing round here but it seems to be based on taking the piss as much as possible.

The last 3 days have seen a deterioration in my right leg/back. Driving any further than a short distance has become very painful now and I went out in the car this morning and had to turn back.

I hope this is just a glitch and not another stage of the deterioration. That would be very grim indeed. Very grim.

FFS bub, get a grip.

You have previously implied that you NEED a car....what are you going to do, buy another one?

You will be lucky to get anything at all weighing them in - you might get the taxi fare home.

Just rift the saxo around as is. High revs in second then bang it into fourth - third gear is for pussies anyway. Whats the worst that could happen? it breaks? you were going to scrap it anyway so nothing is lost.

What do you NEED to get the vectra running? Forget air con rad and brackets and bumpers and shite like that. You have the engine rad, yeah? zip tie it in place, gaffatape the bumper and forget about anything not crucial for forward motion. Unless the sump is completely flattened, it can be bodged with a bit of flat tin, some self tappers and a tube of sikaflex. Get some part worn ditchfinders on it and either drive it or bang it on gumtree or your nearest auction. An afternoons work and fifty quid invested to get a working car or a return of a few hundred is way better than weighing it in and getting a couple of tenners if you are lucky.

Add the Saab to the list, it's sat doing nothing.

No,cant buy another due to insurance being twats and that wasn't my intention anyway. Just feeling pissed off at myself for confusing dates etc. The gear isue don't bother me at all. Vectra needs gasket, tyres and fluids. Saxo needs quiet a lot but nothing major.
