Which 'delightful' part of the world did you have to detour through from the M53?

I've been working on a job for merseyrail for the last couple of months, 2 sites in liverpool and 1 in birkenhead. Went up to birkenhead last night to finish it all off. 3.5 hours there, 4 hours work (not as cushy as it sounds!) 3 hours home. Job done.

There's an Amazon by the big Cathedral in Liverpool that has been there as long as I've been driving. Light blue, doors / wings occasionally change colour on it but it is always in the area. I suspect the same chap also has a truly gorgeous white 2 dr Amazon that only comes out on sunny days.

What year plate is it? The earlier Amazons really do look a lot older than the '2nd generation' cars like mine, but their profiles are identical. It's amazing what a two tone paintjob and a different set of grilles can do.I also agree that English White is the best colour for an Amazon. If I was truly minted I'd consider having mine done in that colour. I still like my 80 Grey though, mainly because lots of real ale twats tell me they don't like it and would paint it red if it were theirs. Which only makes me like it more.

Not sure, I think it's a bit younger than yours. Next time I'm passing and it's there, I'll grab a shot and post it on 'ere.

I also agree that English White is the best colour for an Amazon. If I was truly minted I'd consider having mine done in that colour. Yours looks right in that colour.I normally dislike white cars with a passion (RS Fords excluded) but the old Amazon does look excellent. I think it's got a few choice tweaks, it's on minilites, but it's bull-buggeringly tidy. Another one I'll try and grab a pic of, but I suspect I won't see it until spring.

Minilites are almost as much of a cliche on Amazons as they are on Sherpa Sports and Mk 1 Escorts. They do suit a nice set of 15" MLs though. Weird thing is, the early - mid Amazons share their PCD with US Fords and large Japanese stuff, so the choice of wheels isn't that massive unless you want to ship some Torq Thrusts over from the States for about £1000.

I meant to have a whinge about this the other week after our last trip to Manchester. Its infuriating, even in something that doesn't really go much quicker than 65. It annoys me because when I was going up and down there quite a lot during Uni days I knew how long it would take and there was never this continuous 50 limit road working. Average speeds in this country are, I'm sure, continually reducing because of it all. Progress

 

Plus Mrs_Seth is in a grump now because they've just started the next lot of M1 works meaning here commute to work involves about a 10 mile stretch of the M1 at 50. This after 3 years of doing that along a different 10 mile stretch.

M6 is indeed a pain in the arse at the moment. Roadworks seem to be utterly everywhere on it - just south of Leyland, then again at Haydock then a gain a bit further south. All covered by average speed cameras. GR2.

There is quite often rozzers on the bridge over J8 (Ellesmere Port) of the M53 with speed cameras so if anyone's passing might be best to back off a bit.A few blokes from work were caught in a nasty accident there a couple of months back, they were in a vehicle that got hit by a 44 tonne truck and were extremely lucky to have escaped, especially considering not one major injury.
