I have offered to purchase it at scrap value should it go awry. He's replaced it with an L-reg Escort convertable so he's a man of some standing.

If I end up breaking the Sceptre TD, there's a green wing (!) a bumper and a light going.

If you do this, I'm after a bonnet  :)

That beige 205 looks pretty appealing CMS and a relatively easy fix as well.

that lada on May's prog actually looked like a right shitheap that needed dropping if you watch properly ;-)

After a protracted period of nothingness, it looks like the Charade's wheels are here.

Except Japan Post now say HMRC have them - which'll mean a pointless, drawn out wait while they decide to cook up some ridiculous import duty letter, plus Parcel Farce's cut [technically illegal] followed by another lengthy wait while one of its lot tries (and fails) to deliver them first go.

They're four weeks overdue anyway, and I could have done with them arriving in the first week before all my sodding bills go out. Plus the Charade needs tax and MoT at the end of August.

Coming home from work tonight and a twat in a souped up Focus (arf!) shoots past me in a cloud of exhaust fumes and Lynx cheap aftershave .

Fucking twat was trying to incite a race but I was too tired to bother.

Not that I would ever race another motor on the Queen's highway, of course.

How do you know he was trying to race you and not just in a great hurry?

His passenger shouted ''Your car is a rice burner and we're going to beat you to the roundabout in our chav-mobile, pal.'' as they went past.

He can't have been going that fast if you could smell his aftershave and hear every word of that.

I should have known better. After finally buying a rattle can I took the bumpers off only to find the screws holding the over riders on have just turned into lumps of immobile rust. I should drill them out but I can't be arsed

No grumps for well over 24 hours? Site not what it used to be etc etc.

Two trips to the tip today while clearing my uncle's house. On trip number two a couple were feeding a very nice looking Thule roofbox and bars into the compactor "because we can't find the key". Gobsmacking waste.

On the plus side I have HBOLS for Volvo 340 and Alpine (free, please PM) and a whole wodge of car history - thread to follow.

Sold a kitchen unit pull out basket effort on Ebay, went for more than I wanted but the buyer wanted it posting so I've spent all day constructing a massive box to send it in.  Cut myself twice, burnt my finger on hot glue that badly it blistered straight away, had to go to Sheffield to get molested for a roll of bubblewrap as the Rotherham branch of Staples appears to be boarded up (It's half the price on Ebay) but on a Sunday that's not much help and to finish off the Bosch glue gun I've had for at least 15 years decided to blow itself up fortunately after I'd just about done with it.

So all in all I've probably made about £20, been cheaper and a lot less hassle to give it to the scrapman.

Ebay in 'probably not worth the effort' shocker.

Seriously though, that's pretty shit. Hope the buyer realises what trouble you've gone to.

Looking at pics from car shows and getting pissed off at why everything has to be lowered and "uprated" wtf is wrong with factory spec, it not like they didn't know what they were doing....

If looking at car show pics is pissing you off you need some sort of anger management-type help I think. If they're that upsetting don't look at them!!

Why did you not pick the lock, take the barrel out and get a key made at your local locksmiths

It was too late and all squished by then, and I already had a car full to bring back.  But it would have been a two-minute job to drill or pick the lock -- or even just order a new key from Thule.  Which makes you wonder about people.  They were driving a C4 Picasso though, which says a lot.

Indeed. I found the CCC rally a bit depressing due to the number of C4 Picassos, C3 Picassos and C5 Mk1s. Parking things like that next to DSs, 2CVs and XMs really does demonstrate just how shit modern Citroens are. I hate Ford for making the world love boring cars.
