Ref the pug van tyres, who says they are illegal? You/tyre man/mot tester?

Hard to see in pics but they could be legal even though worn on shoulder

Only the centre 3/4 tread needs to be 1.6mm minimum

At the risk of flogging a dead horse, I wouldn't drive on them.

Are we done now?  :)

Yes. Hopefully.

My feet are itching like mad. Just on the soles. I want to get the electric drill and wire brush out to scratch them. That may not be a good idea but they are driving me craaaaaaazy.

Waiting 2 hours at the airport for a plane that's usually late (apart from the time I was...)

Sent from a paper cup tied to a piece of string

Bloody weather. It's been nice all day, I get to knock off work and it's starting to pish down.

The other evening was really really nice and I had to stay on at work.

Sub-tropical weather in the back end of summer sucks! (4pm-8pm = rain)

Can anyone explain this right. I sold some magazines on ebay ages ago. The lad paid by paypal, I sent em, he left pos feedback, everyone's happy. 2 MONTHS later the funds were 'reversed' back into his paypal presumably, leaving me £12 'overdrawn' on my paypal account. I cant find any explanantion for this other than 'the sender cancelled the payment' and now i have to pay £12 before I can use my paypal account for anything else. I tried to raise an unpaid item complaint on eBay but of course the sale is too 'old' for that now. Is this a typical part of the selling deal on eBay nowadays?

my kirby g4 has died, its been with me (parents) since 1995 and has served well, i presume its the motor as it started squealing then just died, hopefully there's light at the end of the tunnel theres a couple of motors on ebay, they are great vacuum cleaners

I think if you look through eBay you can actually ring them now, B01. If he's snatched the payment back then it's actually theft, so although it's a bit of a hassle I'd be looking into doing something about that.

Be careful with that.  Have you new shoes?

I was issued with new work boots last November, about a fortnight later my feet started itching then began getting sores.

Treated it as athlete's foot.

Treatment would work for a bit then not, so changed medication, same thing.

Eventually made an appointment with the GP - this alone is a nightmare.

Before I could see him it became significantly worse, feet and legs swollen so I couldn't get into any shoes and had to cut my work boots to bits to get them on.  Trousers & jeans too tight to wear.  Open sores on legs and feet, blisters all over them the burst and let a yellow liquid low down my legs and into my shoes :bleurgh:

Having to shower every couple of hours, unable to sleep for more than an hour each night, constantly changing bedding and clothes due to the bursting blisters and bleurgh liquid.

Went to a walk in centre where they were great, diagnosed eczema that had become infected, dispensed antibiotics and advised visiting GP before the course was up.

Big improvement within a couple of days but after a shower my youngest daughter saw my legs & feet and was horrified, suggested it was cellulitis combined with oedema.  I wasn't aware she knew this stuff but then realised she was trained as a midwife, worked in care homes for a few years and is now an embalmer so comes into contact with people with such stuff.  Often in her capacity as an embalmer :help:

Saw the doc, extended antibiotics as it was getting a bit worse again, told to use only medicated soap, not Aqueous cream.

Improved for a while then took another nosedive, back to walk in centre and saw a dermatologist/skin surgeon.

She was great but painted a very bleak picture, prescribed more antibiotics and steroid cream among other recommendations.

By this time the blister were up to my ears.

Seems to have been eczema infected by staphylococcus aureum, hence the yellow liquid.

Improved again, then deteriorated rapidly.

Got to see the GP who is good, rather than the head of practice.  Big change in medication, more steroids and antibiotics and a referral to a specialist.

Again, improvement for a few days then regression, repeat visit to GP, more of the same but stronger.

Saw another dermatologist (specialist).

Another change of regime and medication, at last an improvement but the main thing was to burn the damned boots, which had caused an allergic reaction, contact dermatitis, then then became infected (staph.)

It is still there, waxes and wanes and still needs treatment but I can at least wear shoes again and don't have blisters leaking gunk all over the palace.

Apologies for the diatribe but you need to take care in the early stages before it develops and gets out of control.

I've just rung em, seemingly I was sent some messages asking me to provide tracking details of the goods. I never saw the messages (they went to some old email address that i never use). But, I never had any tracking details anyway as i sent the stuff by ordinary post. So it sounds like if you can't provide a tracking number you are open to having the flipping money taken off you regardless. Nice.

I've been hunting for another toy recently and like a few others I used Confused.com as a rough guide to insurance prices, with Autonet coming out cheapest every time. Last week I bought a car and called Autonet where I had a 30 minute question session followed by 10 minutes on hold to then be told they were busy and they would call back soon, which they didn't. They called back the next day while I was at work wanting to start the process from the very start again, I said no, already done that, get someone to dig out all the info already given and call back and I'll pay. Didn't hear from them again.

I recently changed to Autonet from M&S, quote significantly lower.

Did it on the website until I came to pay and got my Visa password wrong (not wrong password, probably a typing error).

Had to phone them the following day and go through the whole thing again, then passed on to a security checker to make sure all details were correct.

47 minutes on the phone, my lug was dropping off.

Hate using phones at the best of times :(

You need to ring ebay Mr_B. They can (and should) sort it.

He has either done a chargeback or has an expired card attached to his account and PayPal allowed the payment without him having updated his card details. If you sent em recorded / signed for / couriered / tracked then you should be ok.

As far as ebay goes - I sell a couple of hundred items a week on ebay and get very, very few issues. The odd 'lost' item usually to Spain or Italy which perhaps isn't lost at all but other than that its ok.

If ebay got there act together though they could be loads better. Customer support is ok but why still not decent shopping basket function? Theres loads they could do better.

It'd be nice if they had some real competition but it'll probably never happen and the biggest threat to ebay is probably ebay itself.

Sadly, yes this is the case. Always send tracked / recorded. Most people are honest but a few do know how to work the system.

Posted

I didnt send em recorded or owt else, I just posted em. The lad left positive feedback a few days after I sent them so i assumed all was well. I contacted eBay today, they said contact paypal, I did that and they said 'you've been sent 3 emails asking for tracking details to which you have not replied so the money has been refunded'. I didnt reply to those mesages because I never saw them, but even if I had seen them i have no tracking details. I reckon I've just been scammed 'fair & square'.

Posted

I can't see how they can't sort you out now, after all the lad has left feedback so has clearly received the item/s. I suppose to be fair to him he might not even have realised he'd been refunded, some people very rarely check their Paypal balance.

If not, fill a jiffy bag full of cat turds and put a second class stamp on it. He'll have to pay the extra when it gets there, then he'll be in for a shock.

I'm just signing him up at a few PPI claims websites. I've got a mobile number for him which i'd like to ring up and see if it is still live without giving my own mobile number away, any tips?

Call it from a phone box or say to your nearest unlikeable friend or colleague: 'My phone's battery has died, can I please make a 20 second call on yours?'

I just set my phone to 'hide my ID' and rang his number, seems to be still live so hopefully the half-dozen PPI companies to whom I've given his details now will be on his ass for the rest of the day.

As far as ebay are concerned, you buy something through them - if you like it great, if you don’t like it you can send it back and get a refund. In this case you are saying you are happy with part of it and want to keep that half, but you are not happy with the other half and want some sort of refund on that. It’s not really surprising that eBay don’t want to get involved with splitting up and arbitrating on the values of fractions of eBay items is it.

By keeping the wheels you are accepting to keep the tyres too. If the tyres were totally unacceptable to you, you should have rejected the whole lot!!! Its straightforward.

We'll have to disagree, then. It's allowing sellers like that to inaccurately describe items and get away with it 'because I offered a full return and refund'. It doesn't solve the problem and obviates the main issue - i.e. the tyres weren't as described. If only half of it's right, why should I return all of it?

It's like going into a restaurant and having a shit meal only to have the management turn round and say 'well, fuck off, we offered you your money back'. Yeah, great - my evening's still ruined, but never mind, you offered me my money back!

It's not enough, sorry.

Yes. But he paid you at the time, so what's the problem?

See how this kind of logic is a pain in the arse, now?

It seems open to abuse, which is crap.

100% Wrong!!! Its like saying (after paying for the meal and leaving the restaurant) the steak was nice and you'd like to keep that but would like to be refunded for the lousy potatoes! I'm saying you shouldn't have eaten the meal at all, OR you should have just accepted the spuds as the steak was so well cooked.

The problem is we exchanged money for goods, then when he had recieved the goods, he took the money back as well!!! Seems a bit different?

I'm really in the mood to go for a drive but I really dislike the Porsche as a thing (not even the pop-up headlights will sway me), the Xantia is no longer insured and the Princess is 100 miles away in Derbyshire waiting for magic sparkle stick action.  So instead my exploring entertainment is reduced to taking the dog for a walk and carrying around a small bag of poo looking for a dog poo bin.

Oh, and the boiler has stopped working after one brief glorious moment of warm water.  Sticky relay, apparently, and while the landlord is lovely enough he doesn't like spending money.  Would be quite nice to have running hot water, been waiting on it since the 21st, all the landlord needs to do is replace the boiler, even the plumber said there was no point repairing it as there's too much wrong with it and replacement is going to be cheaper for all concerned and just as much hassle.

At least I can get a shower/bath nearby at Mike's Dad's, it's just less than ideal to me.

Withhold rent, pending successful repair to a fundamental part of the house.  That should concentrate the landlord's mind on his responsibilities, however 'lovely' he may be.

I'm in Stoke so literally spitting distance from you, I bought a complete motor, switches and cable for my g4 about 3 hours ago :-( out of interest though what you looking for the heritage 2 (it can be a backup plan for me ;-))

I've been waiting for a speedo cable for the last few days after it was despatched. I was (reluctantly) dragged out shopping today so left a note for the postman in the box at the end of our track for them to leave any parcel in the recycle bin. Of course, today is the day that it arrives, and I get a card saying I have to collect it from the PO on Monday because it needs a signature. Fair enough, but countless times they've signed for stuff themselves and left the parcels there, but the one time I actually ask them to they take it back :-(
