I imagine the feeling when plugging a diagnostic machine into a C6  is akin to this scene in "Juggernaut " when Richard Harris is about to snip the green wire

Tbh when I got Peugeot planet working and pressed clear on the faults on my 407 felt like that. On a c6 it must be at least 10 levels higher. Probably the same sweating as in "airplane"

Brave and heroic. But SOOOO worth it - these are such brilliant motors - they look fab both from the outside and from every seat inside. I think the soft eject door bins are still my favourite thing, but I only drove one for an hour, so there's bound to be many more treats in store for an owner. Fascinated to find out what your experience will be like.

Every time I get in my Honda Accord with all its 23rd century gizmos, I think to myself “ this car would never work if it was french”

Balls of steel.

I wonder how many of the C6's components, other than the new alternator, are made from Chinesium...

It's the bits made in Germany that worry me most...

It's a posh 407 with gasbag suspension.  WCPGW*...?

Virtually everything I've had break on many Citroens over the years has had Bosch written on it.

The number of broken C6s for sale make it the sensible thing to buy a broken one.

Paying top dollar for a non broken one can only be a temporary reprive as it will surely become a broken one soon.

Fingers crossed the alternator swap solved multiple problems.

My thinking exactly.

This was 1300 euro . Which is practically theft in France.

The engines got to be worth that alone. I hope it doesn't go the breaking route, we'll see...

At that price, especially in France, it's got to be worth a punt non?

Absolutely love these, have seriously thought about getting one and even started an advice thread on here which did put the fear of God in me i must admit.

Best of luck with it, as the French probably don't say - Chapeau.

Is this driving yet?

Would love some more photos, especially of the interior.

Yes it is driving, just lots of bongs from the computer.

Here's some interior pics:

Not a lot happened today. Work , rain and a dose of CBA got in the way.

I did sit in the comfy passenger seat and play with the diagbox for a bit.

Two abs sensors are duff and it reckons the brake switch is duff.

Oddly the brake lights work, but as a switch is only 9 euro it's getting changed.

I've booked some time on a mates four poster next week as it looks like the fuel tank has to come out for the rear abs sensor change.

Is there any reason not to splice the new sensor into the loom before it disappears above the fuel tank ?

Tomorrow I'll be checking glow plug resistance. Computer says the relay is dead, but it sounds ok in the actuator test. C6 forum recons it'll be the glow plugs.

If it’s like a 607 rear sensor change then I’m pretty sure it will just sneak out by slackening the tank bolts and using a piece of wire to pull them out / through

Lovely, really lovely interior.

The French really know how to make an interior look & feel inviting in a way that the Germans never quite manage.

You half expect one of those interrogation lights to come out of the dashboard on Kraut stuff, and ask you searching questions about your worthiness to own such a fine example of Teutonic engineering.............French stuff is just a comfy place to be when you get the inevitable FTP.............

Glow plug resistance has been checked. They live deep in the Vee somewhere.

But you can get to the control box by simply shifting the engine and suspension Ecu's.

Checks out the same at the connection on top of each bank.

Probably worth a good dose of contact cleaner before you reassemble?

No fixerating today, instead the C6 has been doing what a car is supposed to do. Mostly.

It didn't like the trailer, parking sensor was going nuts. I thought the electronics would be smart enough to switch that shit off.

Obviously broken.

On the way home the speedo stuck at 23kph and the steering and gearbox seems to be stuck in sport mode.

I'm sure more stuff will go wrong.

Does it have the head up display?

Kph, and a little picture of the next junction, linked to sat nav

I had a 2.7 v6 diesel as a rental from Geneva Airport for the best part of 10 days.

About 300 km on the clock when I got it.

Everywhere we went French people would look at it as if we were mafia.

I remember the boot being a bit small.

Yes, it has the head up display. I keep forgetting its there, there's lots of pretty orange and red lights on the dash to distract me.

Boot is very small for such a large car, very reminisant of the CX boot as is the fabulous concave rear window.
