You really scored with that Toyota!

As for the not so goodish stuff...

Meh!

It's an old car. Comes with age and use.

Great to have something dependable, but also a little unusual nowadays.

If you open the front door about 30%... Look into the door/wing gap >>> theres nothing there. It goes straight through to the arch liner. You will see the back of the side repeater.

If you look hard at the left side (the bit below the edge of screen side...) You will see a horizontal ledge (a welded seam, above the acc pedal location).... this had rotted through on ToMM© [just a pinhole] and water dribbled constantly, in rain, down the inner Apillar.

I looked up it, using my Chink boroscope, and saw wet brown toast :(

check it out, m8

Check the radius arm pivots and bearings if you’re getting clunks from the back of the Metro. If they haven’t been regularly greased they can get very loose and in a worse-case wear the holes in the mounts oval - eventually giving some unintended rear end steering…* There are repair kits available, or new radius arms are still can be had.

Yeah, mine had about 1cm of play at the wheel when mine went home. I checked them after I spun the car on a mini roundabout completely without warning, the back just let go. Get the back up on stands and give the wheels a good tug and shove - any lateral play and they’re shot.

I got mine done in Rayleigh by a Metro specialist but that was 20-odd years ago now - I’d be very surprised if they were still going!

There's a Rover specialist just down the road from me.

Plus Les at BL Transverse (who I got the car from)

So, the Toyota doesn't have cupholders.

Never fear, the bodge king is here!

Pair of universal cupholders off eBay. Two small pieces of chipboard, some satin black paint and a few small screws will sort that!

There was a flat bit behind the handbrake (I know, it needs vaccuming, will sort this weekend!) with a bit of carpet over.

Cupholders!

Yeah, they're wonky, but the contraption is only taped onto the car, I can sort something else another day. It'll do for now.

Bonnet 'popper' :(

... 2¢ = didn't have to lather grease onto latch as it was caked. Dropping the bonnet from greater than 8", however, caused no end of yanking to pop it again.

My tredd, on ToMM©, details sunvisors.

Slowly, Slowly m8  :)

Today's hire car

Absolute shit.

18 miles on the clock. Dash rattles. Screen randomly doesn't work if it feels like it.

Ouch.

My latest problem is that the first team keeper isn't going to make either of the games this coming Monday, so they really need me to play for both teams. There's no way I can be fit enough for one game never mind two by Monday. It's likely they'll go for the 3rd choice keeper (a 16 yr old striker) and I'll end up at right back or something.

Can you tie your hands behind your back and just header anything out of the way? 😁

Hope it heals quickly 🙂

...non car related removed...

Car wise, I have no idea what I'm doing. I guess I'm going through my boredom cycle and need to liven things up. I've seen a car I want too

 ...non car related removed...

Anyway, back to cars. Will I sell either of these? Will I buy a Citroen? Will I listen to any car advice? Place bets now!

Satisfying, it is annoying when you get used to having cupholders and then buy a vehicle without them.

Yeah.... Bummhattz....

SuziQ has them, ToMM© didn't :)

have come to the realisation that I was abused , physically and mentally as a child,

Sorry to hear that, sadly it happens and coming to terms with it is a step in dealing with it. None of it was your fault and although you clearly struggle sometimes, you strike me as a decent guy, and clearly think the world of your son,  rather than repeating the behaviour of your parents. Have a smiley face

I don't know what CM regime you are under, but if you have little retro for a substantial amount of time, you pay substantially less. Maybe nothing.

When we did CM claim for Mrs CSW against her ex, on the latest regime, I don't think any maintenance would have been due, if he had the children for 50%.
