Get the worst out and check all the breather pipes are clear then the harder and faster you drive it the more clean it'll get. Just chuck a few monthly tesco value oil changes through it

My old zafira A diesel had to be decoked twice, due to previous owner neglect.

Will do another oil change. Not sure about adding additives though. There are some big chunks of carbon in the engine. Amazed the cams are still turning.

The EML is back with the same error code. Either the new camshaft sensor is duff or the coking problem is far worse than imagined and the new sensor has become covered in gunk since 22 December and about 400 miles.

So the Vectra fixed itself. No EML today and no idea why. Who says AVAS

Well actually, in a show of solidarity the Ginger Disastra has thrown up P0171 - lean Bank 1, error code.

Any ideas. I know @Split_Pin has previously said change the MAF due to a bit of hesitancy, so maybe its time I forked out for one. Could the code be anything else?

Quick update

Vectra - as per the roffle thread, Seafoam got chucked in the oil. Car runs better, but EML is on again. Bank 1 crankshaft sensor.

It had a new bosch one, less than 200 miles ago. I suspect the sensor is getting clogged by the carbon in the engine.

Astra - Still at parents house. Being booked in to local garage (the one I used when I lived there - so I trust them). Shocks all round and investigate EML - Bank 1 running lean.

Honda CRV (Mrs CSW motor) - unsurprisingly. Nowt to report. Although I want to do a diff oil change. Have all I need, just need some decent weather.

Rover 75 - Given away by Montytom (see his threads) and I am very grateful. Being collected by transport company on Saturday 30th Jan, delivered straight to local welder to repair offside sill.

Today I've ordered a front sill repair section from Tom Hobbs (good rep in R75 community), new jack pad from ebay and two galvanised copy sills (slight over kill but at least the welder will have metal of the correct shape to chop up if needed).

Fixing the Astra - went to parents to sort some probate papers.

Bunged some fuel in and found the petrol cap was very loose.

Tightened it up and EML went out.

Sorry I didn't see your earlier post about the Astra. I'd try with a different MAF and  coil pack. I'd recommend known good 2nd hand but genuine ones of these, that's where I've had greatest success with these Vauxhall parts.

Just found out that the guy I sold my lovely Coupe to must have got bored of it, sold it to some clueless bird who couldn't fix an idling issue it had. Simple repair, cat or throttle position sensor. Sold it to some guy down south who is breaking it for spares before I could save it. Total waste but it was always worth more in parts I guess.

It will get a new maf, once she's had all her shocks done. The incoming R75 is hammering the budget this month

Great looking thing. Wonder if this was part of a Japanese order that wasn’t delivered (I seem to remember this sort of colour combo was part of the order in around 2001 ish) fairly unusual to have a sunroof too. Great to see it get sorted.

Are they xenon headlights? Odd as I can’t see the washers in the bumper.

Halogen projectors I believe. You are right, if zenon would have the washers.

I don't think it's a Japanese order as the Crown wheels would have had decorative dimples between the bolt holes.

No it was just to test if it would stop the binging which it didnt. Would be easier to get a new ipk screen and have it fitted

Quick R75 update. Its finally on the ramp at the fabricators. Its been in a queue since delivery last Saturday week.

Slight glitch. No locking wheel nut can be found, so the existing ones are being removed in a very careful* way. Been told that damage to alloys is a possibility

At least its on the ramp.

Once done, I need to then get it shipped to a specialist to read the codes for the airbag and abs lights (T4 or Pscan needed).

It runs out of ticket on 21st. So if I can't get it sorted by then, I'm going to have a problem.

I had the same problem with mine - it came with a locking wheelnut key but it didn't fit the bolts...

I managed to get them out with no damage to the alloys, so if a hamfisted amateur like me can do it I'm sure a garage can.

Another quick update

Vectra - After 130 miles of seafoam the EML has gone out. Hopefully the gunk on the camshaft sensor has been dissolved

Rover 75 - welding done. New front offside sill. Primered ready for a bit of paint.

Highly recommended garage. A place that cares about customers and won't rip you off. It's now my go to for car work, servicing ect.
