Collected my new transport yesterday - 1971 Triumph 2000 in Valencia Blue - 60,000 miles and absolutely rock solid. I suspect it's seen little more than Sid & Doris shopping duty. Didn't miss a beat on the 30 mile drive home, wafting along like a 38 year old wafty thing.

I think I'm going to like this one.

Nice buy, I do like the look of these, My dad had one once, He took into the local garage for a patch to be weilded and they managed to set fire to the car and burn the garage down!.I'd like a 2500Pi with Minilites in dark blue like the one i saw last year. 8)

Bloody wonderful, really in to that. What are your plans for it?

I was watching the Sweeney last night just thinking how cool these are. The front of these look almost identical to a Stag, even down to the contours of the bonnet. The grill/light surround gives it a totally different look though.Great buy.

In the late 70s I helped my mechanic uncle replace the engine in his dark blue 2.5PI estate with a Rover V8 motor. The V8 engine was notably lighter but although the finished car was only slightly quicker than it had been, it made much less of a fuss doing it. One of the few british cars I've always had a serious soft spot for. And It looks like you've got a real nice one there.

I'd like a big Triumph at some point. I used to for a Triumph specialist and the big saloons were by far my favourite to drive. Personally, I've love a Mk1 with a 2500S motor in it but a Mk2 in Pagent Blue would do.

That is superb 8) I love these big Triumphs, and it has all the ticks in the right boxes! tax exempt, manual with O/D, and in the lovely shade of Valencia blue, I'm extremely envious!

Very nice. By coincidence, unless it's changed hands since late July I reckon you bought it from the same chap who sold me my Bluebird! Your car earlier this year:

We liked the look of it, and he seemed a pleasant bloke who knew his stuff.

I liked these as a child, I was always impressed by the village butcher having them in the '70s.

Edit: Just read the eBay ad, it is the same seller!

Cheers for posting the link Retrogeezer - answers all the questions in one place. The guy I bought it from is a real Triumph nut...has a beautiful Stag and a TR6 he's had for over 20 years and never needed to weld. He rescued the 2000 from its slumbers & MoT'd it with nothing more than a couple of new bulbs and a brake bleed!!It's the overdrive that surprises me most, operates quicker (and with more oomph) than any flappy-paddle gearshift...like a rifle bolt.
