Loving that colour!

Drum brakes on the front too 😬

The colour is unbelievable in person, it's a lot darker in the photos.

Just finished the underside, It's been epoxied then an industrial primer that's full of zinc followed by black paint and underseal so should last many years before it needs any welding work.

So I've moved on to polishing and the last job will be to fit the door cards.

Once it's polished and a couple of little touch ups from building the car back together it'll be ready to go.

Gets a thumbs up from me. That's a lucky old shed that fell into your hands instead of got clagged full of shit and punted on :-)

First pass with the buff from the front to the back doors is done, got a few wee nibs I need to remove before the second pass.

Arse end to polish then back to sanding all the little bits I've missed.

Stage one done.

Masking tape shows little bits of dust I missed because I couldn't find my paint pen.

Will wash it down and scuff the little bits I've missed on Monday then it's onto g10 and go around the car again before wax.

It's a big beast to polish, my back is knackered 😂

This is looking fantastic, I hope you have me solidly marked in your calendar now😂 How many hours go into a paint job like this?

Quite a few in this one due to the state of the body, on a normal car with minimal bodywork I can knock them out in a week.

A definite air of "a hobo has lived in here for several years, then had a fight with a team of ninja raccoons and lost" about it.

Yep it's definitely got a hint of hepatitis about it  😂

Those seats were mint when I dropped it off...

And I had nearly £3 in change in the ashtray

It has an ashtray? The sheer decadence, next thing you will be saying it had carpets.

(Although if I remember correctly it didn't necessarily have a floor to put it on in places)

Mint as in they all had a big hole in the middle?

Is that a Pulp Fiction allusion?  "Toluca Lake. It's thirty minutes away. I'll be there in ten."

It's alive

Coil had died and the points needed cleaned. Need to put fuel in tank and make sure it'll run from it.

Posted

New coil ordered and will get new plugs on Tuesday on the way to work and I'll see if they stock a condenser that will work just to be on the safe side. The coil had a hole on the underside and the plugs look as if the car has been running really rich for some time.

My dad nearly had a heart attack when the car backfired through the exhaust, I've never saw him jump as high in my life 😂

Saturday the 6th it'll be ready to make the journey back to Glasgow.

Car was going back tomorrow since the new plugs arrived today but it threw a wobbler and started leaking fuel while running like a thwaites dumper as soon as you apply throttle.

IMG20211106113005.thumb.jpg.7cd23e97ffc8ba8576e4db3ff47230fa.jpg

Runs at idle a lot better but soon as you go near the throttle it just dies.

Carb needs a rebuild and distributor needs points, cap, rotor and leads just to be on the safe side.

It knows it was going home and pulled a sicky to get out of driving to Glasgow 😂

An overnight stay on my street will generate the sort of dust level that you'd expect from a car that's been rebuilt from scratch in a small garage. Everything I own looks like it's been stored next to an active volcano.

Engine sorted and a whole new fuel system fitted along with a carb rebuild.

Runs sweet as now apart from it blew an exhaust gasket earlier but it just sounds even more epic now 😂

Will be back in Glasgow this week.

Getting the most out of those scaffolding poles.

Doesn't even idle at 1,500rpm anymore, impressive.

Cold start

Exhaust blowing makes it sound a bit funny through the speakers but it's fine in person

Radiator shat the bed because it was leaving today

It's either got stage fright or just hates me 😂
