Picasso restoration.......a tale of idiocy and citroen fun

I might have a look at the plugs if I can find one of each next time I’m at the scrappies. The problem I’ve noticed now is there’s hardly any van bus 307 in breakers.

Do you know when Picassos changed over to can bus and if so how you can tell from the outside? The 307 got a facelift when it went across to can bus so it’s easy to tell the difference

I'm not 100% certain tbh, it's certainly worth having a look at a dash on a scrapped one

Digital dashes are awesome

I was reading that they share the same platform and same engines. So perhaps similar wiring? It would make sense for psa to have one wiring standard but then they are french so who knows.

PSA are just akward with everything, nothing is compatible with what you'd think it would be

Good luck though

The digital dashes in Picasso's like to give up and go dim, replacing the bulbs is a bit of a pig too from memory, still better than the 150 reurbishment price asked online though.

I can replace those bulbs with my eyes shut now

another day another problem

this one sounds exciting

imagine the sound of a wheel bearing, failing dmf and wheel arch liner on the tyre all mixed together.........

if i rev the engine then theres no noise, if i release the clutch theres no noise, stopped in neutral and first with the clutch in.....you guessed it no noise

only when driving

Bearing or CV maybe. Any worse driving slow on lock?

Not that i've noticed, but it did start in the last few minutes of my journey

probably an impending exciting ftp, and of course i'm still driving it about 200 miles in the next few days

Stop daring it to break mate. It obviously doesn't want to, and you can't force it if it doesn't want to. It's just a mysterious unexplained noise.

I'm taking the attitude of the noise doesn't exist, i'd rather the car be perfect but if the noise is nothing serious then i can live with it

With those new speakers it sounds reasonable at high volumes too!

Probably just a stone stuck in the brake caliper or something like that, almost certainly nothing to worry about.

Of course it could always be that a wheel is about to set itself free while you're doing 70 on a dual carriageway with absolutely no warning other than that odd scraping sound you couldn't quite put your finger on, sending you careering of the carriageway and straight to a fiery doom!

Probably not though, probably something minor. It usually is.

I mean if i'm going to crash might as well do it properly....

Absolutely want it to fail like that if it's a wheel bearing, will add some excitement to my life

Strange, but I always turn the radio down when I hear a strange noise. I also turn it down when I'm looking for an address/door number.

My boss often says "hang on, I can't hear you, I'll have to put my glasses on."

Well......even i'm surprised, it looks quite good

Nice work - it's as good as a local body shop I went to once. Think Stevie Wonder was doing Saturdays there at the time... Even I when I pointed out how bad the repair was, the bloke couldn't see it. He was another of failed recommendations from neighbours:  "E's a nice ol' geezer, honest as the day's long, knows 'is onions, been spraying cars man 'n' boy..' , yeah, and should have retired 20 years ago before the cataracts got so bad.

Were your original sills galvanised or something? Mine has a sort of textured finish on the lower edges - no it's not rust - bit like a hammered finish with pain over it.

they rotted out like crazy so of course in the autoshite way, i sprayed directly onto underseal which gave the texture.

Funny enough i saw a picasso today that must have been done by that body shop.....the silver was more grey and "citroen" and "xsara" were on the wrong sides..............which annoyed me very much
