I hated these when they where expensive but now I really like the idea of them as a low budget liability .

Come to Scotoshite next week for a shot:)

Faults to report currently

1. Central locking only unlocks with the key. Had to lock doors manually

2. Batteries in Key are dead (may cause #1)

3. Fistable holes in the rear hatch

Get in!  Glad someone on here nabbed this, given that I was too stupid to.

Aye, saw it when you posted it.. watched it and couldn't believe the price..

Would have been rude not to!

Many thanks to Davehedgehog31 of this parish for giving up his time and Derv to drag me over to get it, and to Dome for coming along to see how high the hill of dung was ( and then being jealous)

Can we see pics of these please.
I'm guessing a replacement rear door (preferably of a different colour) would fix this … or is it for a quick bodge with sparkly stick?

You asked for it! Have found a tailgate on eBay in black, but it's almost 1/5th the cost of the car!

Rest of it is not quite as bad

As can be seen, the rear end is high - don't know if it has heavy duty springs in it or if it is airbag suspension and needing reset?!

Too high is better than too low, especially with a vehicle of this genre.

By the way, I may have forgotten to mention it before, but I charge a £150 finder's fee.

Thats ok, I charge a £150 " saving Wuvvum from himself" fee;)

Aye am not too fussed re the rear suspension, just there are precious few things to worry about.

I had, and still have, no interest in MLs, although if you were to have a cheap one, this may well be the one.

It does seem to have escaped the council estate stage of it's life, remaining with a wealthy older owner for many years. A relative of the chap i got my S4 from, no less.

MOT history looks good and I don't think it's wanted for anything in its life. Perfect winter smoker.

I’ve already added ml55 amgs to my eBay Alert list.

Holes behind numberplate, ... I'd be tempted to see if it is bodgeable from inside then rattle can it.

Only Mercedes could design a car to rust in places one wouldn’t expect a car to rust. My vote goes for cardboard and glass fibre to keep winter at bay!

I even splashed out and filled the tank too.

Let's see what MPG it does.

*BONG! NEW FAULT ALERT*

The dash bulb that does the fuel gauge and the 0-70mph part of the speedo is out. Luckily this doesn't really count as a fault cos I can still watch it cook itself at 120mph:)

*BONG! NEW FAULT ALERT*

Looks like I have one light out on the front.

*BONG! DISSUCCESS*

New batteries and attempting the key reset function failed to sync the key. Suspect control module grumpy. Opens all doors using drivers lock. Internal button locks all doors and boot.

Status - not wearing at this time.

Total faults

1. Central locking does not work off key

2. Rear end high

3. Glowplug light stays on for 30 sec after starting. Car starts instantly, no need to heat.

4. Dash light out

5. Suspect headlamp bulb out

6. Rear hatch doubling as potholing training for mountain rescue due to RUST

Total failed fixes

1. Battery replacement did not fix central locking from key.

Glow plug light staying on, as I'm sure you're aware, means one or more failed glow plugs. My 5-pot Merc started fine at -10c with 3 working glow plugs. It was a little lumpy for the first 10-20 sec but that was it.

Sounds like one to ignore then:)
