Pillock Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 Ha! I'd missed this thread, been keeping up with the more boring design pictures they'd been tweeting for the 150th anniversary (old packaging and stuff) but had no idea there was so much chod in the archive.
bunglebus Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 We had some from Raleigh Wier 1981 but I think there are more? Checkout the Peppermint (or is it Signal?) green Mk1 Fiesta Supersport Mk1 Fiesta ^^ Shep Shepherd, TripleRich, RayMK and 8 others 11
tul66 Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 Anyone else amazed at the number of wedges in these pictures, I never knew that Princesses & Ambassadors were that popular.
Pillock Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 It's "Silvery Green Car Tuesday" at Sainsburys in Kimberley, near Nottingham. Drivers of silvery green cars get up to 8.5% off all fruit, vegetables and toilet rolls. Note the police have turned up in their Vauxhall Astra to control the crowds. Due to underfunding, they have to brush-paint the stripes on their patrol cars. martc, warch, Sudsprint and 1 other 2 2

Both it and Sainsbury's are long gone from here. Woolworths premises is being redeveloped as shared-ownership flats. 7 hours ago, HMC said: Ealing 1984/85 This one's long gone as well. The only Sainsbury's presence in Ealing today is a Local around the corner from Ealing Broadway station. Sudsprint, warch and HMC 3
NorfolkNWeigh Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 the rectangular thing is a Nissan 300 Surprised nobody on here is such a sad anorak to point out that early terracotta Cavalier has got post 1985 facelift GL trims. Oh, wait... In 1985 that hot milf with a metallic green R16 complete with vinyl roof AND tailgate would have seen the 21 year old me fantasising about the " rally resting" position of the seats. ( TBH the 55 year old me is too) Whats the blue Sportscar? Jensen Healey, Triumph TR? The shape of the arches doesn't look quite right. Walter White, RobT, Skizzer and 1 other 2 2
Spottedlaurel Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 Love the tatty Datsun 1200 estate and early 100A with narrow rear lights. The 3-door Stanza probably a dealer-concocted 'special' edition, with a vinyl roof that was never available here as a factory option. These photos are truly extraordinary.
Spottedlaurel Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 Just looking through Flickr contacts' latest photos and I noticed a Suzuki Alto with the registration A978 FLF. Immediately I recalled the silver Ambassador A863 FLF at Pinner. Why do I (and doubtless others here) remember this sort of stuff? Skizzer 1
sheffcortinacentre Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 Jenson, the MK3 on previous page is an L a base would've had a plain black grille & plain chrome bumpers. Both petrol stations are still in business at meadowhall (Sheffield) even though the store became a next quite a few years ago.

I do/notice it with invalid vehicle registration blocks if it makes you feel better! (ie I notice when a vehicle is part of a registration series that also contains a block of invacars etc) see page 18 for an example!
Muniphobia Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 That would explain it as the original Tesco West Bromwich store seemed to get stuck in the 1980s until it closed. Other that them closing the first floor with the toys (which was loved by me in the 1980s and clothes not so much loved by me in the 1980s but now seems to have infiltrated my wardrobe) the store signs etc were still all as it was in the80s right up until it closed about 8 or 9 years ago with Christmas decorations from the previous Christmas still on the clearance shelf the following December!
Sudsprint Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 I am going with a Stag (but the wheelbase looks way too short) 10 hours ago, NorfolkNWeigh said: Whats the blue Sportscar? Jensen Healey, Triumph TR? The shape of the arches doesn't look quite right.
HMC Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 Maybe a tvr m series? I think it’s got Seam where the bonnet starts 4/5ths of the way up the front wing and a chunky b pillar, possibly a vinyl roof, a 1600m doesn’t have the big cooling vent on the front wing the larger engines ones do.

MorrisItalSLX Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 Could the mystery blue sports car be a Triumph Spitfire?

HMC posted this pic: It was ProgRocker that said "P reg Cortina with round headlamps would make it a 1300 or 1600 base model" Which would be true for most P reg Cortinas, because for the 1976 model year (October 1975 brochure) the base looks like this: And the L looks like this: But KLT598P was registered on the first day of the P reg, 1st August 1975, so it's a 1975 model year car and so a base would look like this: And the L got the emblem on the grille that is mentioned in the brochure and you can see in the picture that HMC posted originally. KLT598P lasted until April 1987. Skizzer and HMC 2

HMC Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 Good call! i was thinking (With a vinyl roof) But not convinced here. Hard top /coupe? I don’t know if it’s a chunky b pillar, a targa roof/ Surrey top or just a reflection. And the rear deck is too short on the tvr. There also looks like a bit of a “hip” between the top of the door going up to the start of the rear wing.
