Would have to be quick if any interest intimated.4 door saloon, 37,000 miles, drives, rust to wings, bottom of doors, rear inner & outer arches & a bit to the roof (!), a-posts, screen surrounds.I wouldn't have thought there'd be much interest but you never know...Around £200.00 or so to take it away.Pics to follow...

Oii, stop killing Probes :lol::lol:

Just got another Probe in yesterday!

Here's the Talbot in all its glory, it looks good from a distance & and was taxed up until the end of April this year. The one & only time I've seen the car before now, was about 2 or 3 years ago & it looked mint - living by the sea hasn't been kind to it:-

This one's a sweet runner.Aren't these the cars where the bumpers were white on some models?? Never liked Talbots if truth be known... oh except for the heavenly Tagora of course!

That would be the early Alpine...

Where about in Scotland is the yard?

U-pull-it in Inverkeithing, Fife. This Talbot has been marked for crush sadly... but tbh its maybe past the point of a reprieve given the extent of the rust - though for its age is it really that bad?Ahh yes the Alpine... I have memories of years ago seeing a green metallic one with the white bumpers.

This car has somehow escaped crushing & is still as it is as pictured when it came into the yard a couple of weeks ago.So may as well give it another round on here then!Somebody, somewhere would love it...

Its the sort of car I'd love to see someone driving around in, but have no desire whatsoever to own. Talbots are not really my thing Shame to see it fragged though! Now if you get any cortinas in...... 8)

would you be interested in the mark 4 that i posted about cortinadave?

Ahh Cortinas... the last one I saw round these parts was that one I saw on Kdy prom every morning & that was a whilst ago now. Still get the odd Sierra coming in though. At the moment we have 3 Escort MK4's... a tatty D-reg base 3dr thats not long for this world, a very tidy H-reg XR3i & a very tidy F-reg 46,000 mile 1.3L 5dr that my Dads friend has just chopped in for a new Polo. Kind of gutted to see it in as I remember the car when it was brand new - odd to have seen it in the first week of its 'life' & now to play a part in its final days as a working vehicle. It will be going on the U-pull-it 'sale' at a sensible price so I hope somebody snaps it up to keep others on the road. The XR3i is in the 'parts' section just now, so if anyone knows any Escort aficionados LET THEM KNOW that its ripe for stripping. Good panels & interior... actually good everything, just the back arches that were beginning to go.

There'll be a red 190E going on the site next week... depends how many parts you're after whether it could be worth your whilst to buy it to strip...The likelyhood of seeing a Mk2 Escort in the yard? Remote! There was a C5 Estate but its interior was burnt out.

I've got two rotting in my garden! Will Capri ones do? Wouldnt surprise me if a one of those have been scrapped recently.

I was there today. It's just like a proper old-school scrapyard but without the teetering piles of cars, the moil and the oil-stained Alsatians. A pair of door handles for a sad face Fiesta and a corner light for the 940 came to £9- proper old-school scrapyard prices too.I think I may have been served by Scrappylad but I forgot to ask.

Posted

Scrappylad, would you be the chap with the Alfa 145...?

Posted

Yep they were very helpful / reasonable when I went in to strip that probe with a mate a few weeks back. I always remember it being shark-infestedly expensive when it was Watsons yard until recently, so the U pull It takeover is good news for local shiters I thinkNothing I can do about the mk4 in Stirling sadly fiatdaft, I am a skint boy at the mo! Not helped by my capri eating its camshaft AFTER I'd sold it on ebay and was awaiting the buyers pickup. GrrrSo now i'm facing a hefty bill to sort that out just so i can flog iT!

Hey scrappylad, If you work for U-Pull-It then what the story with this?

Posted Image

It looks very clean and original, It wasn't scrappage scheme was it?, And i also see the rear wheels are tucked in, have these got the same rear suspension set up as a Triumph Helard or is it just knackered?.

....have these got the same rear suspension set up as a Triumph Herald or is it just knackered?.

Looks to me like someone already had its engine, hence the big air it's catching, if it were knackered it would have been bought on eBay by a collector, innit?

I've bought stuff from that yard, can't remember for which car or what part, can remember that it did exactly what it said on the tin... and price was tolerable. To a less tight-arsed person than I, that means cheap.:mrgreen:

Posted

Can't find the car on there now, may of been removed?, It did have an engine fitted though and 11000 miles on the clock. they wanted £400 + vat for it.

Posted

Ah. Well if there's an engine in that, it must just have been let down off a jack, which would also explain the attitude of the rear suspension since it would need to roll a few yards before the swing axles would level out.Nowt wrong with Bugs though, possible exception of swine flu of course.

Indeed you were served by me! Service with a smile & all that... or perhaps not! In terms of the transition from Watsons to Upullit, its been well received by the majority of our customers. Certainly from my own point of view, I always much preferred self-service yards. Not my 145 Cloverleaf, but it is owned by one of our employees. The Beetle came in on Scrappage, and as it has no keys, was forklifted off the truck hence the tucked under wheels! Used to be green at one time and I've probably seen it many times before with it being an Edinburgh car. Its now sold, but there are a couple of other classics due to go on the site soon so keep a look out... One of them is particularly shiteworthy! Upsetting for many, including me, but good for business and at least the usable parts are being recycled rather than just crushed. We've got quite a nice C-reg Scirocco GTX 1.8 up for sale and its actually quite a nice car. Failed its MOT on 3 very minor items (cheap to fix!) and it needs some paintwork - but useable as is once its got ticket. Can't remember the price but its pretty cheap!
