bunglebus Posted February 17 Posted February 17 A question - is there any way I can delete a pic from Flickr once I've put it in a post I'm writing on mobile? Let me try and explain: I have pics hosted at Flickr, so to put one in a post I copy its URL and paste it into the post I'm writing - problem is if I cock it up there seems to be absolutely no way to delete it again, so I have to bin the entire post and start again. At least if I'm using the web version it gives me the option to change the pic to a link, then I can delete that. Thanks...
SiC Posted February 17 Posted February 17 No idea apart from my usual comment that the editor on this forum software is dog shite. I know uploaded photos I can just remove by hitting delete on the keyboard/phone pop-up keyboard. Presumably that doesn't work? Version 5 (we're on v4) of the forum software is supposed to have a new editor that is better...

I similarly can't delete a tagged user or link once it's inserted into the post. The editor is just that dodgy, especially on mobile. It's just Invision being Invision sadly. mercedade and bunglebus 2
eddyramrod Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Is anyone else finding the forum glacially slow today? It seems to be struggling particularly with pics.
Remspoor Posted February 24 Posted February 24 The last daily mail links do not work correctly. I should end up at the post but the link sends me to the front page.

Tickman Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Something helpful was said in the GS for sale thread about the starting handle, it was taken the wrong way and that looks to have been the final straw. I hope @Mr Pastry doesn't depart because of it. loserone and High Jetter 1 1

IMHO @Mr Pastry's posts are always well considered and informative, so this seems like an isolated incident or misunderstanding.
SiC Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Sorry for the unscheduled site error message at around 10:20pm for a couple of minutes. I triggered a software update that usually happens in the background where none of the services gets stopped and only restarted when I reboot the server. However this time, with the quantity of updates that went on, it did it unexpectedly during that the initial download update phase. Snake Charmer and High Jetter 1 1

LightBulbFun Posted March 20 Posted March 20 uhhh @SiC is it possible to undo a "mark everything as read" action? I accidentally clicked the chat bubble circle next to "Autoshite" in this screenshot and it marked the whole forum section as read (I swear there used to be a confirmation prompt for this at one point?)
LightBulbFun Posted March 20 Posted March 20 2 hours ago, SiC said: Nope not that I'm aware of! Welp LOL, is there way to put some sort of confirmation prompt an "are you sure"? save other people from fucking up in the same way I did?

That sounds worryingly like you're asking for common sense UI features from Invision - that's surely a sign of madness! AnnoyingPentium, LightBulbFun and IronStar 3

Spiny Norman Posted April 21 Posted April 21 I'm sure the answer is in here somewhere but how do I make a photo into a clickable link, specifically in the eBay thread?
SiC Posted May 19 Posted May 19 3 hours ago, Sunny Jim said: Got this at 5.15am this morning. All good 5 minutes later. It's this: The server runs at UTC (so time doesn't change on DST), hence it's currently doing it at 5:15am UK time atm. As this is predominantly by far a UK forum, this is generally around the quietest time and has the least impact doing it then. Most people are still asleep! I hate it as a "fix" but since having a daily restart, it's been solidly stable setup for well over a year now. If you refreshed 29 seconds later, it would have been back online.
Sunny Jim Posted May 19 Posted May 19 I trusted there'd be an explanation and you'd be on top of it. Another opportunity to thank you for keeping this place running @SiC SiC 1
Datsuncog Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Been getting this error a few times this afternoon: It was only down for a few minutes, then came back on the third or fourth refresh attempt. Something similar but with a different error code happened on Saturday: But I think this may have just been the early-morning update mentioned a few posts back. All good now, just leaving it here for general info rather than going full customer service rant! MorrisItalSLX 1

I needed to reboot a machine at work just before lunch and let it come back up while I was lunch... Except I used the terminal to here that I thought I closed yesterday after I had to reboot it from doing an update on here. Oops! Soz. Usually it's pretty quick at restarting so hopefully it was only a minute or so downtime. High Jetter, IronStar, Datsuncog and 1 other 1 1 2

That has happened to even the big boys before: https://about.gitlab.com/blog/gitlab-dot-com-database-incident/ https://about.gitlab.com/blog/postmortem-of-database-outage-of-january-31/ There are several layers of backup on here so all wouldn't be lost if it did happen - apart from at most ~6hrs of content between backups.
SiC Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Looks like there is an important security update come out today that the forum software provider wants us to put on https://invisioncommunity.com/release-notes/4720-r132/ Important enough that admins and moderators are getting a warning message that isn't even possible to hide... dozeydustman Posted May 26 Posted May 26 Is therr a fault in the non-motoring sub-forum? Handful of threads are constantly auto refreshing on both my phone and MacBook irrespective of browser. Forgotten Music and Computershite threads have done this for past few hours. Just wondering if it’s the huge number of links and photos in them but computershite was fine yesterday.
