Knotted wire wheel brandished at the Toledo this afternoon with much successes.

Most of the bodywork that is hidden by the subframe has been taken down to bare metal. There are some pin holes but nothing horrible.

Progress!

I feel major satisfaction coming on for you when the holes are filled and it's all pretty, waiting for the shiny subframe.

Mick is  a good bloke, very useful to know, especially when you have a FWD Triumph. Most of the Triumph specialists don't cater for them at all so he is always the first place I look. His online parts lists are epic though it helps to have a genuine Triumph parts book as he lists everything in part number order but sometimes just scrolling randomly down 29 pages of stuff can be fun when something you previously thought long extinct jumps out at you.

Blimey Ken, you are really rocking along with this one. It's going to be on the road way before I get my Dolly sorted at the rate you're going.

Dunno mate,  There is still the issue of sorting the engine painting, servicing it, cleaning up the brake calipers/discs, brake pipework, master cylinders, draining and cleaning the tank, replacing all the hoses/ fuel lines,  painting the rad, doing the upper bodywork, fitting the headlight mounts,  cleaning all the electrical contacts/earths, fixing the front seats, scraping all the shit off the underside and rustkilling and painting it all, cleaning and painting the exhaust. Also other bits which I haven't been able to recall. Hoping that the new engine and gearbox won't need a shorter/longer propshaft.  Clean up the wheels, new tyres or fitting MGF steelies as per usual.

The list goes on.

Final subframe mounting gubbins arrived this morning.

Bit of an update. More scrubbing up of the sub frame and surrounding are done.

The N/S chassis rail needs a repair at the front but that can be done when the sub frame is on.  I hope to start painting this tomorrow, Friday or at the weekend, depending on access to the garage.

The engine bay O/S turret area and top of the chassis rail has been rust killed and painted in red oxide primer.  The same will be done to the other side shortly.

I went over the rust areas on the front valance too. Looking a bit cleaner now.

I also wire wheeled the passenger floor pan (underneath) and it is lovely and solid.

Must be nice to do a project that doesn’t require endless welding. Most of mine have been rusty, very rusty or colander rusty. This looks a great project, glad you’ve decided to stick with it!

It is, just a small amount of welding in the scheme of things really. Most of it is sanding down, cleaning, prep and protecting.

Oh, and fitting the engine and sub frame but I have all the bits for that.

I just need to get a can of Code 72 paint from somewhere.

Anyone know of a place still open for that?

This is who I use. They can supply cellulose and two pack to all the old paint codes and colour names, and can deliver. They're still open. They've got a branch in Dagenham which would probably go out to you. http://carspaints.com/

Got the majority of stuff from my garage to the storage garage today. Tolly was rolled out, left to the side until I had enough space to push her in to her new short term resting place. 

I just need to empty as much stuff from the house over the next few dys.

I am utterly, utterly knackered though.

So glad you were able to save this. It would have been a tragedy to have seen it scrapped
