The 18k was the PAV pre accident valuation rather than what they hope to get for it. They had a rough old mk1 escort the other week that went for silly money over the PAV that the insurers paid out

duno how? even if mileage is gen the grande is the least popular body shape so would be suprised at a payout that high. a fastback or convertible yes.

Because Diablo Red is terrble, and flakes off, the phase 2 revamp of the Xantia made it blander than a Citroen should have been, and the 24v V6s eat camshaft followers and aren't economical enough for 9/10 of the population who expect a 90MPG megawagon for 400 shells. Sadly.

Are the 12v V6s much more economical then?

All v6 xantias are 24v are they not?

Not sure, but Dugong asked if the phase 1 had the 12v engine & no-one had answered yes or no :?

Why have they Cat-B'd two perfectly fixable motors? Normally when you see a cat B its a horrific twisted wreck (like that poor ascona)

Overzealous assesor I'd say. Waste!

Many insurance companies CAT-B flood damaged cars automatically. My dad's certainly did (if the water was over the axles IIRC).

After a few days marinading in filthy water a typical flood damaged car will need the entire interior replacing, the entire car drying out, all the potentially ruined electronics replacing and checking and, of course, all the mechanics will need a thorough going over too.

The Triumph will have got caught in that net.

I love cars like this, but it annoys me when people don't think their car will make 100K nevermind 300K+

That Scimitar is so right. Criminally undervalued cars. Even got a good registration.

You'd be amazed at the following these already have. A CCC meet tends to have more of these than BXs and GSs combined. It's like Rover 75s. True modern classics judging by the amount some enthusiasts are already prepared to spend to keep them in nice order.

Agreed. Most of the XM owners I know have a Xantia tucked away for when needed! I'd be tempted with a 2.0 HDI or early 1.9 dizzler certainly!

Having been in a v6 it is sublime!

I love my HDi. Alot. I'm replacing it with an XM at the end of the month as I can't run two cars at once. I hope I don't regret it!

Here's another cheap RX8 - this one apparently without any starting issues (for now).   And it's the full-fat 231 version.  Sadly it's in Haverfordwest so would cost me another £400 in pez to get home.

This was advertised in a freesheet under "furniture".

Holy moly that Opel is a beauty. Seems like a very reasonable price too.

I'd love a 2.0 pez Xantia

And I'd like a Mk1 2.1 TD. Huzzah!
