I've not touched my Midget in at least 6 months - probably more!

Simply not had the time to put towards it from being so busy. So much so I'm tempted to just get rid of it. Even just by selling the drivetrain and scrapping the rest to make room. Not sure I have the heart to do it though.

This is my current interest:

Currently 17hrs in with a long way to go and the damage it's doing on my wallet makes old cars look like pocket change 😳😬

Also I'd really like to build a kit aircraft or restore a vintage one. My garage would have room but I'd need a serious clear out.

Did you ever watch the series 'A plane is born' about 20 years ago on the Discovery Channel? Chap called Mark Evans built a kit plane, it was an interesting watch.

Yeah I remember it well. He also did a MGB restoration too. 

The Europa he built however wasn't the same one that he flew at the end which was kinda made out it was!

I have briefly mentioned about it on here but haven't really wanted to say too much as fully aware it's an expensive pastime. One that many would love to do but have no chance of affording. I don't like to say too much and having it potentially come across as a bit too showing off/etc.

That said it's not horrifically expensive and in reach for a lot. Basically about the same amount as 3yrs finance on a lot of modern average family cars. Then buying an aircraft is similar amounts if you buy a share of one.

Obviously everyone has differing priorities and for me I've always wanted to fly. While I like cars, aviation has always been my greater passion. One that recently I'm lucky enough to do. You really have to want to fly though. Not only the aforementioned expense but the 40+ hrs flying (most is 50-60hrs) and 9 ground exams that need to be studied for them taken.

Cars not gone forever for me but hours and hours long sessions in the garage over a weekend is not something I will probably be doing again in the near future. Plan is to get the Dolomite back when Andyrew has done his magic on it then use that as my only classic. If I can get the Midget done then the two together.

Yea that kinda rings a bell about it being a different plane, I recall a chap I knew who had done similar reckoning it was all a bit Jackanory. Enjoyable series though and he did well for saying his background was as a vet, not a mechanic/engineer.

Sills have had sparkly stick action but still seems quite a lot of car for the money.

Back in my neck of woods the big spotlight on rear of car was known as a 'meat light'. Because they look meaty. My 1275 GT had one with a satisfying toggle switch to operate it.
