It's an advert for the auction. There's no Buy It Now or anything. Harry said in his video his sending it to auction because he doesn't really know how to price it.

Unless it is unicorn spec, I feel that ~£25k is pricing for a good, restored XJC.

A guy I did work for had an absolutely mint one, there was not a blemish on it, it was as close to perfect as you can get (and certainly better than it was out of the factory). Think he got £22k and was happy.

It was a six pot though, maybe V12 is more - or maybe just more liability?

I think the engine rebuild alone cost £35k; welding, paint and everything else the spend was around £80k from memory.

I think realistically the backlog of projects is long enough for this to be very far in the future 😂

Those numbers are insane!

For £35k I'd want my own tribe of 12 miniature dancing girls to pedal the car under a see-through bonnet.

I just can't see where the money has gone! I get it, 12 pistons, 2 heads etc but it's a low tech engine and skims/rebore/pistons/rings/valves/seals/gaskets... That's £5k. Where's the other £30k gone?!

It's not a racing engine, it was made in the Seventies by some brummies in brown overalls. Tolerances were not tight, materials were not exotic.

And as horrible as these things are to drive, this in comparison (to the Transit) is two grand

Utterly insane , my memory was a bit off. I think it’s closer to £60k than £80k. The electronic ignition seemed to be very faulty, then stainless mainifold pipes etc etc..

So rather than restoring a rotten XR2 shell, does it make financial sense to buy this at £4450 ? (ethics aside )

What's the deal with the numberplate here? An old Irish style?
