I'm looking at the scrap on offer, and the asking prices, and it seems to me that very suddenly, £50 has managed to become £2000.  Am I really just Old?

(Well yes, officially, from today, but that's not the point...)

Happy Birthday !!

The seller's website: https://www.spaceship.ltd/

The Rover seems quite typical of their sales cars/many you see - all polished, prepped, smell lovely but there's never much mechanical knowledge/description displayed.
There's maybe a market for such things but I don't think it's here.

I’ve seen something against that wall a while ago at a ridiculous price, but can’t recall what. May have been a BX or XM?

Unsafe at any speed !

Still would, though, especially at the current price.

0.1 miles away from me as the crow flies... I've already got one car purchased from within walking distance, if this one was roadworthy I'd be in danger of starting a collection!

By the time this listing has finished at whatever price it does (and I bet there's a good few quid to go yet) and someone's restored it, you could buy a mint one for less. But that isn't the point imho, half the fun must be bringing it back to life yourself. I expect it'll be turned into a show pony, but it'd be nice to see just the bare minimum done and getting it roadworthy.

'put 12 mouths not on it'

Make your mind up, M8.

If I were given 24 hours to make an unlimited number of wishes, one of the first would be for all sellers who wrote English to that standard to automatically speak in the same style.

"Yeah, it's got 12 mouths not on it mate, if that makes sense."

God help me but I really fancy a hopeless old Escort.

would a carb 1.6 cvh essentially be the old xr3 engine?

Yeah it's basically the same.

Pretty solid motors, a lot of folk moan they're as rough as arseholes but I found putting decent oil in them and regular changes meant they stayed pretty quiet

The Mk5 was a pretty wank car though but did offer up it's doors and a few bits to the escort Cosworth so still wins in my book.

And it's got PAS which was a welcome addition.

Do sort of agree the Vauxhall Astra listed after it with it's 2.0l 8v would be a better prospect.

No good for you Eddy, it's too blue/petrol/wrong wheels.

Actually I rather like that.  Anyone near enough to Doncaster to go and have a look?  Please?

Mine didn't look much different to that in 1982! 😆

Mercifully a twin-wheel but a lot of vehicles will immediately take these overweight.

Seems a sensible seller tho.

No "it doesn't need a MoT nonsense".
