But £20k? I don't care how nice it is i can get an XKR, or even a DB9 for around that. 

But if you buy an old Jag or Aston you will never get the unique ownership experience of trying to keep those Tagora carburettors running properly.

I paid 450 quid for a 1.6L Mk5 in 2009 ish and 1000 for a 2.3 Ghia in about 2012, OK they were both tatty but solid (both on the road with MOT) they have risen FAST

Agreed. It's gone from £515 to £995. It's either a mate bidding or it didn't get the price he thought it would.
