In answer to your questions,

Q1. No

Q2. No

I don't mind whether BlowJo, Khan or even your mother's cousin's neighbour's gardener's mate from the pub implemented the ULEZ plan to be honest; it's a sad day for owners of interesting older cars within the area.

Isn't that what this forum is all about- cars like that?

Nice Vespa by the way. Got a thread on it?

I totally agree it's a ballache and the implementation isn't good, but as an old car nut and also human being, I love the benefits in health that it brings to my family and I'm sure so do the 4 million other people who live within the zone.  So I guess what I'd love to hear rather than the usual "fuck Khan" stuff is how it could be better implemented? Probably one for the many ULEZ threads rather than derailing this one!

The rebuild of the Vespa is chronicalled here. Love your scooter content BTW!

Genuine questions rather than a confrontation (god knows there's enough of those)

1) Do you live in the ULEZ zone?

2) Did you know the plans were laid out and set in motion when Boris Johnson was mayor, and happen to have been implemented during Khan's tenure?

Guilty 🤣

I hear you. I used to cycle through central London 2005-11. The air is horrible. Something had to be done. Same is true in many other places.

I'm lucky in that I don't live in a ULEZ area and am unlikely to. I think a lot of us can actually benefit from those non-compliant cars being sold off from London and elsewhere. So I see it as an opportunity, not a problem.

This is progress. We can cling to the old ways (indeed we are, on an old fashioned forum) but it's not too much to ask that people can breathe clean air.

So, here's a slightly grotty Escort...

May be an image of car and outdoors

... with a radio that's apparently having some sort of crisis and is screaming into the void.

May be an image of car

I assume the radio is screaming because it's met the tit who's selling it. A little gem from the description:

no offers £550 not £500 would rather scrap it

Yeah, scrap it for £300 less than the asking price for the sake of £50. That'll learn 'em! I'm all for staying firm on price, but he's just sounding like a bit of a twat.

I've not delved into any ULEZ threads on here but will have a look. Regardless of situation though, my opinion of the concept remains unchanged.

As for your Vespa thread, I remember it now. It looks a real honey. Good work on the GTS 250 too - what a barg.

I'm glad you've enjoyed my scooter exploits; I'll have to update the thread soon!

When did the mk5 vans appear? The earliest Mk5 saloons and hatches were on H plates from what I remember but I reckon the van came slightly later. J plate must be a pretty early survivor regardless.

The Fenlander that’s floated around a few members of AutoShite is for sale in a FB group. Private group so I don’t think a link would work.

£900, I remember this one fondly. Up in Scotlandshire IIRC.
I won it in a roffle, I only ran it a few months and had to sell it on because due to it being lowered it was nearly impossible for me getting in and out of it, and the ride was ruined and far to hard. It was a shame, because for what it was it drove well.

Had one of these (well, an S90). Really good car. Good compromise between Volvo boxy and future-sleek too. Understated and classy.

Get one while you still can.

I especially like them in the kind of aubergine colour, which accentuates the chrome well:

Can someone who's a member ask whereabouts in Sussex please 😘

I went to see this earlier today. Seems an honest and solid car, but the extent of the lacquer-peel and damaged paintwork is too much for me. I was also disappointed with the performance, but that might be just my expectations being unrealistic. Car is near Crowborough, owner is a pleasant gent. Can put him in touch with you if you like.

Obviously it depends on what you're comparing it with, but even with the higher powered engine a standard diesel 75 / ZT is not a fast car by modern standards.

I would love to know how many phone calls the seller got. 😃

'Lights and sockets (all untested)'

They weren't from the factory, M8.

'Drivers window smashed'

Probs wanted to escape, you can't blame him/her.

'Ideal as on site potable cabin'

Have to agree with you there. You'd need need to toke your fucking head off to be inside that.

'Accelerator pedal stuck'

A genuine (one of many) trait of later ones. They put a bolt on the bottom of the pedal which used to dig (and stick) into the rubber floor mat. Oh what fun* it was overtaking someone flat out on the A5 by Oswestry approaching a roundabout and not being able to lift off the loud pedal. Three days after that the fucking back window fell out in Mid Wales. The van was 3 months old at the time, iirc

This thing is beautiful 😍

£500, Ilford. Probably on its last MOT, but with test until November it’s not a bad looking prospect! If it’s still for sale when I’m free next Saturday it’ll be on my drive shortly after… Someone please buy it now so I don’t have to test my (weak) willpower.
