Sunflower lanyard is an appropriate metaphor for something which was worthwhile when used as intended, but has now been turned into a useless and derided object due to the actions of incompetents and knuckle draggers.

This is an unusual one.  Toyota Corolla saloon.

Strange to consider they're odd here. We got all sorts of Saloon versions of hatchbacks in Ireland. The Corolla is just one of many.

We got 306s, Almeras, Corollas, the Focus (foci plural??) with the occasional car van variants too. I'm probably forgetting about loads.

The Irish motor tax structure would rise incrementally by 100cc not like the above 1.6l and below 1.6l here. So there was incentives for small saloons with a little 1.4 petrol to take advantage of the cheaper motor tax. Same with car vans too.

Love it.

The description makes it sound like it's falling apart. Rust on arches, on the sill, very poor etc.

BUT... it's MOT exempt! So it's ok.

Difficult to tell what the description is trying to say at all tbh, seeing as it's a load of stream of consciousness bollocks. I know 'island folk' are a bit odd (not just IoW before anyone gets miffed - all islands are populated by weirdos) but that advert is particularly shocking. Then again, I don't expect somebody who bought a half-restored Maxi and then pressed it into daily service as a works van to be particularly normal. Best bit is 'Do your research on these cars'.

Still, absolutely definitely would, especially at the current bid.

Looks fairly tidy but a bit expensive for an MOT failure.  Sounds like it's still on its original tyres too...

Yes, a bit expensive I feel, a Verona of course. It's a very late one, so late I believe it has the rare non-yellowing headlights when the pattern was no longer printed on a plastic insert. They would be a quite useful upgrade for someone.

Can see it needs weatherstrips. Some of the historic MOT's have some comic* advisories.

I'll buy and hold it for you if you can sort out insurance and tax.

If you could at least drive past the dealer and check them out, that would be nice.

It seems to be a bomb-site part-exchange dealer with just a mobile number to contact them on.

Its actually quite far outside of Newcastle, should I happen to be in the area without it being gone I will take a look, might take a while though.

Now I’ve got a soft spot for the triple diamonds but getting body parts is hardly like walking into a motor factor and asking for MK 2 escort wings , things were bad enough during the early 80’s trying to get non service items for the Colt.
