Guy who runs our community unit has one that was in way, way worse condition than that.

To be fair his weldathon has been nothing less than incredible really and he's ended up with quite a solid car but i think that would have been a far better place to start.

We swapped out an engine in one of these and it's pure childs play i must say, even the transmission tunnel unbolted to get access, I can see why these were popular back in the day.

Shame the prick we helped with the engine swap was:

A) totally ungrateful

B) wasn't prepared to spend about £50 on bits to get it running right instead trying to repair 45 year old fucked bits

C) was a thieving cocksucker anyway.

They were shit when new and I hate them..

.

Note: my first car was a 1974 mk4 1300 which was fucked and probably a ringer too

But wait what do we have here

A RS 1600i  estate.

I recognise that from my days on the blue. Fella called Bruce used to own it iirc. Still looks pretty solid to be fair.

Edit: Almost 4k?! Scene tax exempt my arse!

Edit again: Found the old thread. I remembered the interior as being very alternative- are these old Renner seats?

Have made contact as it's not far from me but no response so far, I'm sure he's batting off potential buyers.

Anybody know anything about running one of these? Looks like it's going to need a minimum of 4 tyres and probably a brake service, general service and cambelt change to get it back on the road.

Awesome, you should keep trying. Generally Camrys are seen as rock soild, I dont know if that also applies to 33 year old ones that have been off the road for a long time but I cant imagine it being hard/expensive to sort out!

What's with the wheels hideous.

Matiz wheels I believe. They are awful.

I'll send another message but no response in 24h I'm guessing it has gone or maybe never existed? Or the guy secretly wants to keep it but needs to make appearances like he is trying to get rid of it to keep his wife happy...

In any case my wife will be distinctly unimpressed and it will probably be the third car in a row I have had to hide from her.

Small number plates as well so I would guess an import.

I don't think the LS400/Celsior came with these in any market. They are probably aftermarket, interesting considering people usually want clear ones. I think the car is looking great with them.

I did. Went through five of them in total, one on the road, another sold on far too cheaply as a project (should've kept it) and the other three broken for spares. Still got bits in the garage, including a couple of engines.

Sold, I am disappoint.

Truth be told I'm not really a Camry botherer type but the obvious attraction of a 41k car is obvious. I think I'll wait for another low mileage W124 saloon.

Yeah, they look like Monaco seats, not sure I like the idea of them in a Ford though.
