"There's a girl livin' down out street
She used to be mine
She used to go out with me
But now she's left with the boy next door
Because he's bought a Cortina Ford"

She gives him love on the leatherette
Steamin' up the glass
Because I've seen her
But she only loves him because he's got at Cortina

Your flashy pop-up lights,
The way you hug the corners,
However fast and tight,"

She'll suck your money dry,
Gives shitty mileage,
But come on lets get inside."

Looky look, late registration madness. A Mk4 Zephyr 2.5 on a 'L'.

1opzvtz.jpg

Production of the Mk4s ended in late 1971 and the Mk1 Consul / Granada was introduced March 72.

I vaguely remember an unregistered Mk4 Zephyr being mentioned in the news / features page in a 1975/6 issue of Motor or Autocar. At the time it would have been allocated a new 'P-reg' when registered. It was being offered at less than the price of a Mk2 Escort Popular 1.1. Maybe they still have it for sale, still unregistered.

Says it's '72, so probably supplied new to somewhere like Jersey then brought back to UK and in those days it got the latest reg, not age related when re-registered.

There used to be a secondhand car dealers in Scunnie who imported ex Jersey / Guernsey etc vehicles and you got some really odd registration years on obviously older cars.

Be interesting to see what this goes for, they had it up as £8500 classified ad before. I am biased but mine is better, I have discs, bigger engine etc and of course wagon trumps saloon in my world.

I've seen it at a few local shows, it's lovely. Looks better on its original wheels in my opinion but it's not mine.
