It’s time for me to let go and accept with two young kids, I’m not going to be able to complete this project, which I intended to make into the best hot rod on the planet.

It has a Jaguar XK engine installed ( the classic straight six Jaguar XK engine in 4.2 litre guise, which I think was out of an early 60’s mk1)

 

MK1 production ceased in 1959 and its biggest engine option was the 3.4. The 4.2-litre version of the XK was officially released in 1964, a bit like myself.

 

 

 

 It has style and grace and just ooozes class.

 

All that shitheap oozes is some oil.

 

It's fucked.

I know exactly where that is, it's very close to the centre of Manchester, I've passed it on deliveries before.

 

Doesn't look terrible in the flesh. Needs a clean though, and it's currently stored outdoors (wonder how long that's been the case). It's on tarmac at least.

I was chuckling about ‘Every Silver Cloud has a new headlining’ when I went to bed last night and it’s still amusing me now. It’s too perfect. Just imagine it combined with Bob Monkhouse’s impeccable timing and delivery for example. I think it could be the absolute pinnacle of car jokes.

If that was a genuine 1960s Peel then the price would be reasonable(ish), but it’s a replica which you can buy new for that price, and the new ones even have a reverse gear!

The number of caravans in the background of for sale pics is generally a good sliding scale indicator of how worried you should be about buying a car.

 

1 caravan: Probably an old couple.

2 caravans: are these lunatics then these people selling this car?!

3 or more caravans: well this is obviously circus folk or travelers who will probably want to throw knives at me or demand a bare Knuckle boxing match, which when lost leads inevitably to them demanding all my money before handing me a photo of a car and demanding positive feedback.

 

Although I'm easily racist enough to agree with you on a general principle, in this case the detailed knowledge of the seller makes me believe it's not being fenced by a bunch of knackers.

Someone else was selling that for £500 a few weeks ago.

If the new owner is selling it for the same amount it must be pretty awful.
