Least the guy is precise

will travel about 7 miles before overheating.

Anything else?

window opens or shuts unevenly

speedometer does not work

Exhaust is brand new but seems to have a blockage

dent back door

some rust

Still looks at home in the leafy suburbs though.

Unlikely. 1.4s can't pull the skin off a cold cup of custard and you'd need a 1.7 bellhousing, mounts all round and prop, just to put a Renault 16v engine in. Then they just spin the rubber prop couplings anyway. They need so much engineering done to make usable power that you're much better off starting with something else in the first place. Like a 360 or 940. Or a BMW.

Oh I thought it was the 1.4 where the F4R "drops right in m8"?

I had one of these in 2007-8.  They're a splendid little car (little in American terms of course, meaning about the size of an XJ6).

Ooooh. Mustn't....

Wrong answer.  You absolutely must.

Can somebody tell me why this is a bad idea? Seriously considering it.

Some rot related MOT advisories but otherwise....why not? I think these were prone to HGF so just check that too.

You'd make your money back when you come to sell it I suspect.

Head gasket is a simple job though on the push rod engines. They're a fun steer too, defo worth looking at.

Don't you need a reliable and fairly spacious car to collect/drop off your kids some miles away panda?

Tasty looking sub-£500 Peugeot 405 1.9D with remarkably clean MoT history on Autotrader. If this doesn't end up on Autoshite I'll be amazed.

Yes, so perfect Autoshite logic to get this.... :D

I'd be surprised if it ended up on Autoshite.

Autoshite is disappointed even if you retrieve one of maybe a handful remaining 2.0 autos.

Just a 1.9D not a TD.

Cannot help but notice when a car in linked to from here to FleaBEE then it usually becomes a hot item with that nice little log fire symbol. :-D

Only because it was you!  We expect more cylinders, that's all.  We do know you like a 405 and that's perfectly fine.
