Bottom of the range 316i (E...whatever number it is). Needing work for the MOT. Looks like a good project imo. And: is that a Corolla saloon in the background next to the Landy? 8)

Local Norfolk registered car. The BMW was sold used by 'Bob Bastard car sales' at some point too (est'd 1964).

MOT'd NSU. Was this the one that was auctioned in Scotland?

Looks good enough for me. £2595 is very attractive for Ro80 with RX7 rotary. Will be a bit quicker than standard. Correct Fuchs alloys are interchangeable with the contemporary Porsche 911 ones - tyre aspect ratio is big compared to today's low profiles.

That colour is Colorado Red, I think. Never seen one with red velour seats, though. NSU's metallic blues were much better.

Having had a similar Mazda-engined one (metallic brown; gold coachlines) for four years, I'd be very happy to buy that if I didn't have the CX. No room for two classic shiters in this street, unfortunately - the neighbours wouldn't be happy. Which is a touch rich, given that they have loads of cars themselves.

There used to be a specialist in Belgium called "Rotary Garage" who offered RX7 conversions for Ro80s - you could have 12A or 13B, with fuel injection. Think there was a turbo option (if you could afford it), but not sure the semi-auto would have lasted long.

If you're looking for one, those ever-thoughtful Swiss enthusiasts have written a Guide....

They all have people bidding on them so someone thinks there's money to be made.

Not really a shiter as such - and you'd need to have pretty deep pockets for it - but interesting to see it converted to RHD (using Sport Prinz bits). Only the second RHD conversion I've ever seen.

35 fucking grand for this dismal piece of wank, when you can buy the finest plush Ro80 for 5???

The world has gone bananas!

Imagine what you can buy for 35. The mind boggles.

They will be sorely disappointed. N43's are unfixable.

NSU Spyders, on the rare occasions that they actually come up, can command about 20 grand. With fewer than 2500 built (all LHD from factory), this RHD one really is a rare one in a tiny pool of rarities.

Unfortunately, mein Herr, without the Wankel Spyder development work, there would be no Ro80. That's history, dismal wank or not.

I was going to say a 750 or 101 Giulietta Spider, but they are now house money - and we're not talking a dismal semi in Mansfield. Even the Coupes are 100 grand + now.

Dear goldrivet,

do you think it would drive to Glasgow if I win the auction and I came to collect it?

Regards,
Doug

Dear doug

I can't see why it wouldn't but it would be a long trip for the old girl. If I were you, I'd try to source one a little closer; you'll probably find the bidding will go higher on this one than than it would on the same car if it was located in Scotland. I know I've seen some bargain cars and bikes in Scotland but i know, if I sit tight, there'll be something similar that's closer to home. Case in point: I've just bought a Vauxhall Viscount located in Portsmouth (not far from me) and I remember seeing the same car, listed in Derby a few months ago at around the same price. Turns out the head gasket blew not long after it was bought from Derby and the chap I bought it from had to fork out to fix it, so I got the same car for the same money, less hassle and much closer, just by biding my time.

Just a thought but, as I said, she runs well enough and hasn't broken down since I've had her (except the alternator bearing siezed on the way back from Sandwich in Kent but we still got back ok).

I do like that Volvo, all the car you'd ever need, plus a bit more for luck, perhaps fit some rear facing seats in the load bay just to make sure

The seller sounds like a liability too.

'Basically a rust free car.'

'Imported from Japan registered by me so is a UK one owner car'.
