I love those 90s Impalas... from the exterior.

Then I see the interior and nearly vomit.

it is VERY GRIM inside, which is a shame.....

The dash looks like it came straight out of a pick up truck!

I was ready to put a "Like" on that CF, but thought I'd read the ad first.  Ah.  No engine or gearbox!

It's cheap, actually looks reasonably solid. And slidey doors. Did I tell you it had slidey doors?!

Blank canvas for any silly engine you want to put in there, surely?

Egg's LeBonCoin thoughts

Regular tat readers may note for about 6 weeks I've been posting the best* of LBC daily. My search is usually based around cars up to 1990 (sorry, Junkman) and up to 2,500 euros

Here's my thoughts from that time investment!

- Prices vary more in France than the UK, there seems to be more variation for cars in similar condition. There are also lots of basketcases at silly money bizarrely.

- South of France (poorer) seems a bit cheaper for old chod than the North - helps if cars are more rural too.

- The market in Sans Permis cars is ludicrously expensive, and I can see no reason for ever importing one!

- Most old cars in this price bracket with CT's have rust that would fail an MOT, that up until this year has not affected you passing the more 'lenient' French test. But, almost no French seller ever shows pictures of body work/rust

- There are still some good cars under €1000 (but almost none under €500 like over here), mostly Citroen Visas!

- A good Citroen Dyane can be had for not much over £2k, but most 2CVs are much more expensive (like the UK)

- 80's Pugs are good value, and don't seem to have a price bubble around them (205, 305 etc)

- Some 80's Fords are way cheaper in France (Festa, Escy - but not granny/Sierra quite so much)

- There are occasional genuine classic bargains e.g. Pug 304's.

So what am I wrong about?

Just to add - there seem to be more old vans and commercials available in France.

Also there are some really oddball vehicles - rare Mazdas and the like not seen in the UK.

And 'barnfind' - sortie de la grange - is more true. Lots of cars squirreled away in old barns and the like still.

Yes, it needs a velour bench to be acceptable .

Got to love how the owners of these twat chariots describe them as 'campers'. It's a bloody van with a very half-arsed single bed frame and some cushions.

'This car will catch everyone's eyes when complete'

It'll catch even more eyes when it's on fucking fire.

Will be suitably impressed if there's anything worse than this on eBay.
